*Erin's PV*
"Her surgery is scheduled for 8am," the nurse behind the desk tells me.
"Ok thanks," I say.
"No problem," she says with a smile.
I make my way back out to the waiting room.
"The nurse said her surgery is at 8:00."
"Alright," Kian says nodding his head.
"You guys should go home and get some sleep," I tell them.
"I don't want to leave you here alone," Jc says grabbing my hand.
"I think I'm gonna stay too," Kian says.
"Ok. The nurse said there's a cot in here that one of you can sleep on and one of you can take the couch. There should be some blankets and pillows in that cabinet over there," I motion to a large wooden cabinet in the wall.
"Alright, if you need anything just come and get us," Jc says kissing me on the forehead.
I make my way back to Annie's room and check the time. It's already 1am.
I grab a blanket then lay down on the recliner trying my best to just fall asleep.
The sounds of someone entering the room wakes me up.
"Good morning," a woman with long brown hair says to me. "I'll be Annie's daytime nurse. My name is Emma."
"Hi I'm Erin," I say climbing out of the chair. "Do you know what time it is?" I ask.
"It's just about 7:00," Emma replies.
"Ok, thanks."
"So how are you related to Annie?" She questions.
"She's my sister," I lie again.
"Really?"
"Yup."
"You two look nothing alike," She states.
"I know, everyone says that."
"You know if you're not really her sister you can tell me. I won't tell."
"Oh."
"I hate how they have that rule of immediate family only. They don't understand that some people don't always have their family here and all they have are friends," she explains.
"I know."
"Well I'm going to prep her for surgery. Do you mind going in the waiting room until her surgery is over?"
"Yeah. How long do you think the surgery will take?"
"Probably about two to three hours," She replies.
"Ok thanks." I walk out of the room and into the waiting room. I quietly open the door then close it. Jc moves on the couch then sits up.
"What are you doing in here so early?" He asks.
"I have to stay out here during her surgery."
"Ah I see."
"Where's Kian?" I ask noticing the empty cot.
"He went outside about an hour ago. He said he'd be back in a bit."
"Oh ok."
"Since we're up you want to go get some food? I'm starving."
"Sure," I say.
"Let me put my shoes on then we can go."
Jc puts his shoes on while I text Ashley the details about Annie's surgery. We walk down to the cafeteria and get some breakfast. I pick a place to sit next to the window.
"Do you know where Kian went?" I ask.
"No idea. He just said he'd be back."
"I thought he would've just been in here doing something."
"I don't know. From the way that it sounded though he didn't seem very happy when he left."
"I hope he's ok."
We continue to eat our breakfast only with occasional conversation. I check the time as we leave the cafeteria- 9:30. Annie's surgery should be done with in about an hour or so.
I plop down on the couch in the ICU waiting room.
"Why don't you text Kian he's been gone for like three hours," I say.
"Ok I will," Jc pulls out his phone and texts Kian. Only about a minute later Kian texts back.
"What's it say?" I ask.
"He said he has some business to take care of?" Jc says with a confused look.
*Kian's PV*
My phone vibrates. It's a text from Jc. He probably wants to know where I am.
I quickly reply saying I have some business to take care of. They can't know what I'm doing.
I sit in the waiting room of the jail. Someone needs to have a talk with Travis and I prefer that it be me.
My eye still throbs where his fist had made contact with it only last night.
"Kian Lawley," the escort officer says at the door. I stand and make my way over to him.
"What can we help you with?" He asks.
"I would like to speak with Travis Hynes," I tell him.
"Right this way then." He leads me to an area with a row of chairs and glass windows with telephones on either sides. It's pretty much just like in the movies.
I take a seat and the police officer walks away. I hear him yell something down a hallway, "Hynes! You got someone who'd like to speak with you in window 4."
I turn to the glass window and wait for Travis to appear. My mind replays everything that I remember happening last night. The memories stop when Travis dressed in an orange jumpsuit sits down on the other side of the glass window.
I pick up the phone and hold it to my ear, Travis does the same.
"Hey there Lawley, did you come in to black out again?" He says.
"No, but I came in to see how well that orange jumpsuit works for you. I'm just gonna be upfront about this but orange is not your color."
"Cut the crap. Why are you here?" He asks sternly.
"I wanted to talk to you about what you did to Annie."
"What about it?" He asks.
"What do you mean what about it? She's in a coma because of you!" I yell through the phone.
"How did she go into a coma?" He asks.
"When you dropped her she fell on her head and arm and it made her black out. The fall to her head gave her a concussion so when she blacked out it put her into a coma," I explain.
Travis does nothing. He just sits there as if not knowing what to say.
"You're a fucking dick. I hope you know that," I tell him. "You're a stupid fucking worthless dick. I could kill you right now. I can't even go see her since she's in the ICU because of you."
He still just sits there not saying anything.
"I hope you have fun in jail with medical bills piling up around you because I guarantee she's going to sue you." I hang up the phone and leave. Not once do I turn back to see if Travis is still there.
