(Next day)
I'm such a baby! I ran out of the classroom crying, only because my teacher said Liam's name? I don't know why it made me so upset. He's gone, so he obviously wasn't going to answer. I should have known that!
Whatever. What's done is over and I've already made a fool of myself. I'm not gonna let anything affect me anymore. I'm done crying; hurting. It's over and time to move on.
"Destiney! Get down here!" My mother screams from downstairs, coughing loudly afterwards.
I am not going to be surprised if she dies soon. Her drug intake is increasing massively and I can sense her death nearing. I know I shouldn't be saying this about my own mother, but it's the truth and it's not like she herself cares anyways.
I sling my bag over my shoulder and head downstairs, bracing myself for whatever my mum was about to tell me. "What?"
"I have something to tell you." she says with a soft voice, which makes me uncomfortable because she always yells at me. This must be important. Well, to her.
"I'm going on a business trip and I won't be back for a month. Do you think you'll be alright by yourself?" Is she serious right now?
"I'm almost 19. I'll be fine." I roll my eyes and walk to the fridge for breakfast. I grab the milk and take a bowl from the cabinet, then pour cereal into it. Typical everyday breakfast.
"Okay, just be careful." she says. "And don't have that boyfriend of yours staying the night either."
"He left, mum. He moved away two weeks ago." I reply, and for the first time I don't feel that aching pain in my heart. I feel nothing.
"Well, don't let anyone stay. Unless it's Trista or Abbie. No boys." she says as she puts butter on a piece of toast.
"Whatever." I say, and finish my cereal. She doesn't feel bad for me at all. She's not going to show any sign of caring whether I'm okay or not. She doesn't care at all.
"I'm off to school. See you in a month." I walk out the front and slide into the driver's seat of my car. This time, I'm going to make it through the full day.

"Hey look, it's the cry baby." I hear someone whisper as I walk down the hallway to my locker.
"She never deserved Liam anyways." someone else says. Ouch.
"How long before she kills hers-"
"That's quite enough!" Andy's voice booms loud over everyone else's. "Leave her alone."
He opens my locked door for me and I put away my stuff. "You didn't have to do that." I say quietly. They aren't going to stop. They'll make talk every chance they get.
"Yes I did. You don't deserve to hear that shit." Andy takes my books for me and holds them against his waist.
"Let them talk. I don't care, Andy. They're going to no matter what." I sigh, and grab my books from his grasp.
"They still shouldn't be saying it anyways." He follows me to the classroom. I reply with a shrug and sit down in my seat.
"You know Destiney, maybe if you didn't cry all the time Liam might have actually stayed." Joslyn says, earning giggles and laughs from the others. No one likes her. She lashes out on everyone. They only laugh along to her, thinking they'll get on her 'good side'.
"And maybe if you weren't such a bitch people might actually like you." I say, mocking her insult. Everyone begins snickering before she glares at them, shutting them up. Andy frowns at my remark, but doesn't make anything of it.
I can't stand to be around these people anymore. They don't leave me alone, and I'm tired of the way I'm treated. I need to do something to end all of this.
~*~
The day flew by which consisted of settling down in the classrooms, and having insults thrown at me. After the bell rang to go home, Trista and Abbie ask for me to hangout at the mall.
"N-not today, sorry." I quickly say, then rush to my car. I only want to go home where I can be alone. Not to cry, but to just be away from people.
Right before I back out of the parking lot, I hear someone shout, "Going home and crying won't bring him back!"
That was it. That's the last insult I choose to hear. I know what I'm going to do now. I pull my phone from my pocket and text Liam as if he were to answer. 'I can't stand to be here anymore. I'm dropping out of school.'
~*~
The next morning instead of driving to school, I drove to the mall to attend my job. I'm not going to sit at home doing nothing, and the extra money won't hurt anything.
I drive around the back of the mall, and park in between two other vehicles. When I go inside, there were people sat at the food court stuffing their faces with various unhealthy foods.
As I make my way towards Urban Outfitters, a young girl runs in front of me, almost knocking me down.
"I'm terribly sorry." The mother says, walking after the child. "Anna, get back here!"
I go into the small store and towards the back where my manager, Martha, works. "How can I help yo-oh, Destiney! What are you doing here? Don't you have school?"
"Not anymore." I shrug, and hang my bag on the rack.
"What do you mean?" she asks, setting up the check-out counter for the day.
"I'm not going anymore. I hate it there." I say as I clip my name tag to my shirt.
"Destiney, you can't just give up on school! No one likes it but we've all got to go." Martha chuckles, placing a hand on my shoulder.
"Well, I'm not going back. It's not worth it." I say, shaking my head.
"What's wrong that makes you not want to go? Did something happen between you and Liam?" she asks, leaning against the counter and staring at me, waiting for me to explain.
She knows everything about Liam. She loves it when I talk about him, so I do often. "You could say that, yeah."
"What happened?" Martha urges for me to explain.
"He moved away and hasn't called me for a week. Two days ago I cried in class then ran out. And now the whole school is making fun of me for it." I sigh.
Why am I so messed up? Those kids were right. I am just a baby that cries all the time. I never deserved Liam.
"Oh, Destiney. I'm so sorry. I truly am. But you can't drop out of school because of a few insults. Things are going to be said. You can't help it." Martha says, placing her hand on my arm.
"But I'm so sick of it. They just don't stop." I shake my head. Nothing I do or say will get them to stop.
"You have to ignore them, hun. Don't give them any reactions. It might hurt, but you need to stay strong. For Liam." She says, and pats my arm.
"Eventually they'll get bored and stop. Just stay positive. Negativity doesn't help a thing." She adds. Maybe she had a point.
"So, what then? Do I go back to school?" I ask.
"That's entirely up to you. But if you don't finish the year, you won't get a diploma and finding a job will be very hard. And I don't think you want to be unemployed when you're living on your own."
