Orion's Pov
I listened to every breath Autumn took when she slept. When she held her breath longer than a second, my heart clenched until she let it go and took another breath. I hated it. I hated being afraid for my daughters life. Why couldn't I protect her from this?
I called my pack doctor in the morning. He said he could try something. I didn't tell him she was my daughter. No one knew I had a daughter. I made it that way. No one needed to know that yet.
Autumn was sitting on my lap eating breakfast when the pack Doctor walked in. He sat on the chair in front of me.
"This is Autumn. She's epileptic," I murmured. Autumn just stared at him then hugged me.
"This is your daughter?" He asked. I nodded at him,"she looks just like you."
"How are you going to help her?" I looked at Arie across the table. She stared at her plate. She didn't want to put any hope in it. I got that. I didn't want to put any hope into it either but I didn't have a choice.
"If you mix werewolf and vampire blood together, it makes a natural antibiotic that should heal her. If I inject it into her once a month, it should work until she grows out of it," he took the needle from my bag. Autumn squeezed onto me tighter.
"Daddy don't poke me," I held my hand up for a second then picked her up. Arie gave me that look.
"Okay baby, I won't," I picked her up and carried her out the room. Arie followed me. She took Autumn from my arms.
"Go to the doctor."
Autumn left the room. I went to follow her but Arie grabbed onto my arm.
"She needs to do this Orion. You're her dad, not her best friend. Don't make me out to be the bad guy," she whispered. I stared at her then looked down the hallway. I stared at the wall when Autumn started crying,"she'll be okay. This is helping her."
"Okay."
"Good, now go pat her up," she said. I went to go pick her up. She wrapped her arms around my neck.
"Doc, you said that when the blood is mixed, it's a medicine. How many people know that?" I asked. Autumn cried on my shoulder. Lily and Will just kept staring at her. They never saw her before.
"Most wolf doctors, nurses, and morgue attendants know that. Vampire doctors should know too. Some human doctors that are in the light know too," he explained. He held a lolly pop out to me. I opened it and handed it to Autumn. Arie frowned. She murmured something about sugar and bouncing off the walls.
"Will, figure out if the people were in the blood association. See if they donated blood," I murmured. He nodded and went upstairs to my office,"West, bring me Jared. Don't let him get away from you. He probably killed them."
"My brother didn't-"
"He tried to frame you Arie. He said it was a hybrid. There aren't many hybrids in the U.S. There's only five. You. Two dead people, and another one. The Kings Luna. She has everything she wants. She doesn't want to kill anyone. That leaves you. Your brother told me a hybrid killed them," I whispered. She kept frowning at me.
"Orion-"
"He works at a blood bank," she went silent and wiped a tear that fell down her cheek with her hand.
"He wouldn't have a need to kill anyone. He doesn't drink wolf blood. He gets everything from the blood bank. He's a leader of the pack," she looked down as she was talking. Lily just watched her.
"We're going to go talk to your pack before I accuse him of something. We're taking Autumn with us," Autumn continued to suck on the lolly pop.
"Your goal is to protect her," Lily said.
