Dear Miles Cade,
"Then maybe I shouldn't have even left."
I broke routine of writing you every day, but I guess you broke the routine of writing back every now and then. You sent that one sentence to me on the same day I wrote that letter to you on the last day of June. It got to me yesterday, but that was all you said in it. If this is your way of making me feel guilty... it worked.
I understand you're upset about the contents of the last letter I sent you, but believe me, you mean so much to me and I only want the best for you. Can't you see that? What's best for you is for you to stay on that overseas trip and to let me deal with my problems on my own.
I'll keep you updated even though I'll doubt you'll respond to me. Here it is: The cops are going to put Mason in juvie. They feel that he is a danger to not only my safety, but also the safety of others. My parents were furious about the entire thing and tried to comfort me. Bradley was proud of himself, but he still wished that he had been able to protect me from getting hit.
I don't know what is going to happen after today. Maybe summer will finally start to turn around, but I know you're going to be even more upset about the next thing I'll tell you.
I'm not allowed to leave the house because they haven't took Mason in yet, but I'm going to sneak out and spray paint. Spray painting is my escape from my problems. You know that. I'll write you soon.
I'll be here always,
Piper Cheyenne
