Chapter Nine - About Time

Silence.

"Um..." I try to say something.

"Fine. Whatever," Ray says and walks away.

"Hey Ray!" I shout out to him. "I'm not done!"

I feel a hand on my shoulder. I turn to see a worried look on Josh's face.

"I'll be back!" I hurry towards where Ray had gone.

I spot him.

"Ray-"

And then, I also spot a girl next to him, flirting shamelessly with each other.

I clench my jaw and get back to Josh. It's a good thing I didn't choose Ray, cause he's such a freaking player. Besides, even if I did choose him, he might not even ask me out again and even if he asked me to be his girlfriend, we'd break up sooner or later.

"Hey!" Josh calls out to me. "You okay?"

"Yeah," I nod but tighten my fists.

Josh pulls me in and hugs me. I also wrap my arms around him tightly, enjoying his warmth.

"So, you're my girlfriend now, aren't you?" Josh grins.

I laugh. "I guess so."

"C'mon, let's go."

We hold hands and head back to the cafeteria.

I guess I made the right decision after all.

"Dani!" I turn to see Mia waving her hand, gesturing me to come and sit with her, Nick and Jake.

I grin and lead Josh, who was still holding my hand to the table where they were located.

"Hey, guys!" I grin wide and sit down.

"Hey, Dani," Mia glances at Josh.

"Hi!" Josh smiles politely before sitting down next to me. "I'm Josh."

"I'm Mia, Dani's best friend." She smiles. "Nice to meet you."

"Hey! I'm Dani's best friend, not you!" Jake exclaims making me chuckle.

"Ugh," Mia groans. "Correction, I'm Dani's close friend and maybe, best female friend as I'm the only female she hangs around with."

"Hey!" I glare at Mia as she giggles. "Amy, Macy and Lily too!"

"Speaking of which, I haven't heard from them ever since last time, the whole Ray fiasco thing."

"Uh huh," I really didn't wanna think about that right now.

"You know me, Josh. And I know you," Jake grins.

"Hell, yeah." Josh and Jake do that fist bump thingy.

"I'm Nick. Nice meeting ya," Nick and Josh do the same fist bump thingy. "Mia's my girlfriend so don't even try making a pass on her."

"Nick!" Mia exclaims.

"Don't worry, I won't. After all, Dani's my girlfriend."

Silence.

Again.

"WHHHAAAAATTTTTT?????????" Nick, Jake and Mia exclaim.

"Oh, gosh!" I put my hand over my forehead.

"So you chose him over Ray, huh?" Mia asks.

"Yeah," I grit my teeth.

Just the thought of how Ray moves on, banging chicks, makes me wanna puke in disgust. Who does he think girls are? Toys? Well, in his point of view, girls are toys to play around with alright.
