I stop my doodling when a paper ball hits my head. I frown and pick it up, opening it and reading it.
Meet me at the garden after school. We need to talk. - Ray
I roll my eyes. Hell no.
I crumble it and toss it into the dustbin. After the bell rings, Ray runs up to me as I exit the class. "I'll see you after school?"
I smile sweetly at him. "No way in hell."
"Wha-" I start running to my locker, leaving an annoyed Ray behind.
Suddenly, I bump into someone. "Oops, sorry, I-"
"Danina,"
"Oh, Jason.. Hey."
"Hey, I- uh, wanted to talk to you," he mumbles.
"What is it?" I inquire.
He lets out a sigh. "Can you please give Ray a chance to explain?"
My eyes narrow almost immediately. "No way-"
"Oh, c'mon, Dani!" he pleads. "Aren't you even the least bit curious about why he did what to you?!"
"Because he wanted to maintain his reputation, duh!"
"There's more to it than that, Dani. Just please let him explain."
I can't believe Jason Reed, of all people, talked me into hearing what Ray Tulden had to say.
And so, here I am, after school, at the garden. But I'm lucky I already told Ray that I won't be coming, so he won't be here, and I'll leave after some minutes.
"Danina?"
Spoke too soon.
I turn to see a confused yet smirking Ray. "Ray? What are you- I mean, I thought I told you I wouldn't come so why are you..?"
"But you did come," he smirks.
"Now's not the time to be smirking around," I glare at him.
He looks like he just realised something. "Aaahh, right."
I raise my brow. "So? What did you want to say?"
He steps closer to me, and I narrow my eyes suspiciously at him. "I'm sorry, Dani. I'm really sorry."
"Wha-"
"I'm sorry for lying to you, and humiliating you. And believe it or not, this time, I'm not lying. I'm telling the truth."
I open mouth to say something but he interrupts me. "I love you, Dani."
For one second, I almost believe him. His warm eyes, and his sincere face, but reality hits me. He had the same look he had the last time he said he loved me- which was a lie. Yeah, he definitely was a great actor.
But nevertheless, his words didn't stop me from feeling light headed and my stomach to have butterflies flying around. "I-"
The next thing I know, Ray and I are kissing like wild, making me feel nostalgic. I missed kissing him. I missed touching his hair. I missed his scent. I missed him.
