Chapter Thirty - Confessions
I almost jolt when I realise that I was falling for Ray. No, correction, I had already fallen for him. Hard.
To think that I had said that I would never, ever, ever fall for a player like Ray Tulden, but now, here I am.
I used to always question why the other girls fell for him knowing that he was a player. Now I know; he made one feel happy and special.
"Let's get back inside," Ray suggests, snapping me out of my thoughts.
"Uh, yeah."
I grab another beer from the cooler and take a sip as soo as I get inside the house. "Mia?"
She tilts her head towards me. "Yea?"
"Can you- uh, come here for a sec?"
She frowns as she walks towards me. "What's wrong?"
"Uh, can you, um, sleep over at my house tonight?"
"Sure, if my mom allows it, which I'm not so sure she will, as it's a weekday," she dials away on her cell before pressing it against her ear, "but whatever. I'll just try asking."
"You do that," I say as I dial my mom's number.
"Dani?" My mom says from the other line.
"Uh, hey, mom," I say nervously, "I know it's a weekday but can Mia please sleepover at our house?"
Silence.
"Hmm, I don't know, honey, I-"
"Mom, please, I need her. Just for tonight, please."
A loud sigh comes from the receiver. "Fine, dear, fine."
"Thank you so much, mom! I'll be back home soon, bye!"
"Bye! See you."
I turn to Mia. "My mom allowed."
"Mine, uh, did not," she looks down.
"What?!"
She laughs. "Just kidding!"
"You better be, cause I had to convince her."
I look at the time.
8:20 pm.
I look over at Ray, butterflies suddenly erupting in my stomach. Damn it! I hate this feeling! "I- Can we leave now?"
"What? Isn't it just 8:20?"
She then notices the pleading look on my face and her mouth forms an "o" shape. "Sure, sure."
"Hey, Dani and I are going home! Buh-bye!" She informs quickly.
"What?!" Nick exclaims at the same time Jason says, "Already?! But we still haven't even discussed about the project, Dani!"
"Oh yeah," I frown. "Meh, it's fine! We'll just meet up tomorrow after school, okay?"
"Fine!" he grumbles.
"Well, then, bye, everyone!" Mia waves at them and I do the same.
"Bye!" they all say in unison. Okay, maybe not all of them did. Jake, being Jake, instead, said, "don't miss me too much!" making me and Mia roll our eyes.
"Wait," we stop on our tracks at Ray's voice. "You don't have transportation, d'ya?"
"Crap!" Mia cries out.
"It's okay," Ray smirks, "I'll drop you guys home."
I mentally scream. Great, now I'll be stuck in a car with the guy I just realised I'm in love with. Well, at least it's not just the two of us.
