Chapter Twenty Nine - Falling Hard
Jake's Pov
"There," I stop my car, looking over at the big mansion with a fountain near the entrance. "We're here."
"Wow! Is this a mansion or a house?" Mia grins, swinging the door of my car open and slamming it shut hard.
"Hey!" I yell. "Don't do that to my baby!"
Mia rolls her eyes. "What's with boys calling their cars their "babies"?"
"Our cars are our pride and love," Nick says.
"True!" I high five him.
Mia simply shakes her head before looping her arm around Nick's and heading inside the mansion, led by Ray.
I get out of the car, lock it and stuff my car keys in my pocket. I look up, seeing Amber, who looked deep in thought.
"Heyyy," I wave my hand in front of her face.
"Oh," She looks up to me.
"What's wrong?" I ask.
"Nothing."
"Uh huh."
She sighs. "Ugh.. It's just that she- Avery is here and I'm so nervous about it!"
"I am too," I admit. "Kind of. But it's funny how slowly by slowly, she's getting back to the way she was before."
She simply smiles. "Yeah, let's head in now."
She turns and walks in the mansion, me following suit.
"I can never get tired of your place, Ray," I sit on the couch.
Ray chuckles before heading to the kitchen, holding the bag containing the snacks we had bought.
"Wow, this is some place," Amber comments, looking around.
I turn to my right, seeing Avery standing awkwardly, fidgeting with her fingers and biting her bottom lip. Subconsciously, my eyes flicker down to her red full lips, her straight white teeth nibbling on it. I bite my lip to control myself from grabbing her and kissing her with all my might then and there.
"Hey, I need someone to help me with the snacks!" Ray's voice rings out, making me snap out of my trance.
Then I feel a weight pressing down on the couch I'm sitting on. I look up to see her.
"Hey," Avery almost whispers.
"Hey," I say nonchalantly.
Talk about awkward.
Yeah, awkward it is for the three of us - me, Amber and Avery.
Dani's Pov
"You go," Mia shoos me off.
I roll my eyes. "Fine." I get up from the couch and head to the kitchen where I see Ray frantically running around.
I chuckle. "Mr. Rich Guy don't know how to handle snacks for his guests?"
"Shuddup and help me!"
"Okay, your highness," I mock before grabbing the packet of popcorn and tossing it into the microwave.
After three minutes, the microwave makes a beeping sound and I switch it off before taking out the popcorn.
"Hmm, smells heavenly," Mr. Rich Guy comments.
I look over at him. He was emptying all the chips we bought into a bowl and pouring drinks for us all.
"You done there?" I ask.
