Chapter Twenty - I Thought So Too

"I'm so proud of you, my girl!!!" Mia hugs me tightly.

"Woah, woah!" I say.

"You finally dumped his sorry ass! Woo!!!" She dances around, making me laugh.

"But he sure was upset," I mumble.

"He should be! Did he apologize to you?"

"No, why should he?"

"Because he cheated on you, duh!"

"He doesn't know that I know that he cheated on me."

"What???!!!!!!" Mia yells. "You didn't tell him?!!"

"Nope, I thought it'd complicate the situation."

"Then what reason did you give for breaking up with him?"

"Nothing," I shrug.

"Oh, damn. Then he must think you're a bitch or something."

"He thinks I'm heartless."

"Oh my gosh!!! You should've told him that you know about him cheating on you! Then he'd be as sorry as his ass!!!" Mia growls. "That's it! I'm going to go tell him!!!"

"No, wait!!" I pull her. "Mia!!!"

"What?!" She exclaims. "Can't I save my best friend from being called heartless?!"

"Mia! Calm down!" I exclaim. "If you tell him, I'm gonna tell everyone about that."

Mia's eyes widen. "Okay, my lips are sealed."

"That's my girl," I laugh.

"Hey, girls. What's up?" Jake appears, with Amber following him behind.

"Dani broke up with Josh," Mia says.

"What??!!" Jake yells. I glare at Mia, who smiles sheepishly at me.

"Oh, well, that's good," Jake smiles. "Because, you know.."

"Don't tell me you knew that he was cheating on me too!" I exclaim.

"Um, I did. Ray told me," Jake admits.

"Ray." I grit my teeth.

He really wants me to be known as the "poor heartbroken, cheated on, girl" doesn't he?

"Hey, guys," Ray smirks.

Speak of the devil and he shall appear.

"Oh, hey, Ray," Jake grins. "Dani here finally broke it off with Josh."

"Really?" Ray grins brightly. "That's awesome! But I thought you said that you'd wait for him to dump you?"

"Yeah, but apparently, he didn't. He thought I was the actual girl he loved," I scoff. "So I had to dump him."

"Told you he was an idiot," Ray smirks. "Too much of an idiot that he didn't even realise who he really loves."

I laugh. "Guess you were right."

"I'm heading to my next class then," Amber says.

"Me too!" Mia and Jake say in unison.

They all walk away, leaving me and Ray alone.

Oh, no. I don't like the sound of that.

"Good job," He smirks. "That means you are now single and ready to mingle, right?"

I snort, though my lips were twitching up. "Yes, I am single but not ready to mingle."

"Aww, how sad," he pouts. "I was thinking of taking you out. Darn!"

I laugh. "Oh, really?"

"Yeah," he fakes a sad face. "How about I take you out somewhere after school to fix your broken heart?"

"Gosh," I exhale. "I'm not heartbroken! But fine, I'll go out with you."

"Is it a date?" He smiles.

"I don't know," I smirk and walk away.

"Wait, Dani!" Ray calls out. "I'll be waiting in the parking lot for you!"

I smile.

Ray is always there to lighten up my mood.

RRRRRRRIIIIINNNNGGGGGG!!!!!

I smile, standing up from my seat and heading to my lockers.

I was somehow really excited to see how Ray was going to fix my so called broken heart.

I walk out of the building, looking for a certain somebody.

"Dani, over here!" Ray waves at me.

I smile and make my way towards him.

"Get in," He smirks as he opens the door of the car for me.

"Oh, my! What a gentleman!"

He gets in the car too, his smirk not leaving his face.

He starts his car and drives out of the school. And of course, everyone was staring. He was Mr. Popular & Bad Boy after all.

I noticed Josh staring too, a look of hurt in his eyes.

I quickly turn away. "So where are we going?"

"Somewhere," he bluntly replies.

I snort but keep quiet.

After a ten minute drive, Ray finally stops the car and gets out of the car and I follow suit.

"The beach," I mutter. "How nice."

"Don't be such a sourpuss," Ray says. "C'mon."

He grabs my hand and leads me to a secluded spot. He lays a blanket there and motions for me to sit. He also takes out a basket, which hopefully, contained food.

"Food?" I ask, hopefully.

"Yeah," he chortles.

"Yay!" I open the basket, revealing mouth watering food. "I'm not heartbroken already."

"I thought so!" He rolls his eyes playfully before reaching out for a double cheese chicken sandwich.

I grab a cheesy hamburger and devour it. "This is soooo good!"

"I know," he smiles, clearly enjoying his sandwich.

After eating to my fill, I sigh in content.

"So un-heartbroken now?" Ray smirks.

"Yeah, though I wasn't even actually heartbroken," I mutter. "But I'm basically really happy now!"

"Great," he grins.

"You really know how to make me happy, don't you?"

"Yeah," he smiles. "The ultimate reason why you should've chosen me instead of Josh."

My smile fades, and I open my mouth to unmask a question I had really wanted to know the answer to.

"But even if I did choose you," I mumble. "You would've just played me, right? You would've broken my heart after getting into my pants, right?"

Everything turned serious now.

Ray's face became blank and he opened his mouth to say something that I was afraid of, "Yeah."

I thought so too.
