Chapter Thirteen - Doubtful
I lay on my bed, thinking hard. Josh... Did he really do something like that? I groan. He isn't that type of guy, isn't he? But it might just be possible!
Just then, I hear my phone ringing. I glare at it. Josh's name was on the screen. Shit, just when I didn't wanna talk to him.
"Hello?" I answer the call.
"Hey, sunshine!" He says cheerfully.
"Hey, Josh," I bite my lips nervously.
"What's up?"
"Um, nothing much."
"So let's go for a movie this Friday, okay? I'll pick you up at 7."
"Okay, sure!"
"Bye."
"Bye."
The next day, I enter the school building in a sour mood.
"What's wrong, Dani?" Mia asks. "Boy problems?"
"Duh! What you said has been really bothering me," I sigh.
"Then forget about it!"
"I can't!"
"Can't what?" A familiar voice cuts in.
"Josh? Um, nothing!" I smile nervously.
"Good morning!" He grins and slings an arm around my shoulder.
"Good morning."
"We have the same class next, right? Let's head there together!"
"Okay," I smile and wave at Mia, who was frowning. Weird, I wonder why?
Josh and I never have gone to class together, hand in hand. So obviously, I feel kind of happy. He's so nice.
"Hubert!" Another voice cuts in. An all too familiar voice.
"Ray, what gives?" Josh asks and Ray notices me next to him.
"Hey, Dani," he smiles.
"Hey," I say simply.
"We need to talk in private, dude, now!" Ray gives Josh a killer look.
"Um, okay," Josh turns to me. "Sorry, Dani, but you go ahead."
"No problem," I say and walk away. I wonder what they're gonna talk about. Really curious.
I enter my class and take my seat.
RRRRIIINNNNGGG!!!!
Just as the bell rings, Josh enters the class, looking nervous and quite shaken. He gives me a smile, trying to act like nothing happened. But I know that something did happen! What did Ray tell Josh?!!
After trying to figure it out for a long time, it was lunch time. I buy some food and sit down on a table.
"You look like you're in Albert Einstein mode," Jake appears and mocks. "What's up? Trying to figure out something?"
"Yeah, so leave me alone! I'm trying to think!" I snap.
"Whoa, fine!" Jake puts his hands up in defense. "Get back to your work, Einstein!"
"Um, Jake, do you have any idea where Josh was at the party?"
"I don't know! I was with you the whole time!"
I groan. I am getting nowhere with this!
___
It was Friday. The day I have a date with Josh. I sigh. I really didn't wanna go. Yeah, he's been really nice to me all week but I somehow feel suspicious. I mean, why is he being so nice to me all of a sudden? Sure, he was nice before too but this week, he's been too nice.
