Chapter Twelve - Surprise

"Um..." I try to say something to break the big tension.

Josh still keeps quiet. We were currently in the now empty parking lot. School had ended 20 minutes ago and here we were, not speaking at all, a thick tension forming in the atmosphere around us.

Finally, Josh came closer to me and put his hands on both of my shoulders, gazing into my eyes. "Were you and Ray really making out at Nicole's party?"

"Um, yes but it's not what you think it is! Please let me explain!" I rush my words.

"Okay, fine," he gave in easily.

"The orange drink that you gave me? It was spiked so when I went and drank another cup, I got drunk. Ray and Jake were in the kitchen too. Soon we got pretty wasted and started doing nonsense things. Then Jake suggested we play Seven Minutes In Heaven, so we did. Ray and I ended up in the closet together and at first, he was just massaging my shoulders but out of nowhere, he kissed me and soon, we were making out," I catch my breath before continuing. "After coming out of the closet, I fainted and when I opened my eyes, I was at home. My mom said that Jake had brought me back home. At first, I couldn't remember what happened at the party since it was the first time I got drunk but I soon recollected everything. I'm really sorry, Josh. I didn't have a clue of what I was doing. I was really drunk! Please forgive me. I really really am sor-"

"No, Dani, it's alright. Like you said, you were drunk. Everybody makes mistakes when they're drunk," Josh smiles at me sweetly.

"Thanks for understanding me, Josh. I really appreciate it," I smile.

"No problem," he smiles back. "Say, I was wondering, how about a date this Friday?"

"Sure," I grin.

"Let me drop you home."

"Ah... No, it's fine."

"Oh, c'mon now, Dani."

"Okay," I let out a laugh.

We get inside Josh's car and he drives to my house.

"Thanks for the ride," I smile.

"No problem, honey," he winks.

"Ugh, again with the honey thing?"

"Haha, yeah! Well then, bye!"

"Bye, see you tomorrow."

I enter my house and close the door, only to be pulled by the waist.

"ARGHHHHH!!" I yell.

"Whoah, calm down, Tiger!" A familiar, very familiar voice laughs.

I turn and tackle the person.

"Jaaaaaarrreeeeyyy!!!" I pull the guy into a hug.

"Hahhahhaa! How's my lil Dani?" Jared chortles.

"I'm good. Why are you here?"

"I'm on a break from college."

"Yay!"

"So happy that your brother is back?"

"Well, duh! I missed you so much, Jared."

"I missed you too, Dani."

"Does mom know that you're back?"

"Nope, I didn't tell anyone. I wanted it to be a surprise."

"And surprised I am."

Suddenly, the front door opens, revealing my really tired looking mother.

"I'm back, Dani-" She stops mid-way.

"Mom!" Jared pulls her into a hug.

"Jared! What are you doing here?" My mom looked very surprised.

"I'm on vacation," Jared grins.

"Dani baby, I'm here-" Another voice cuts in.

"Jake?" I furrow my eyebrows.

"Jake my boy!" Jared man hugs him.

"Jared!" Jake laughs.

"What a reunion this is!" My mom smiles. "C'mon, I brought pizza!"

"Yeah!" Me, Jake and Jared say at the same time.

"Jared and Jake, Jared and Jake, Jared and Jake." I laugh.

"Yeah, the two most important boys in your life, Dani baby," Jared winks.

Jake whispers something in Jared's ear.

"So, Josh Hubert is your boyfriend, huh?" Jared grins and I blush.

"And Ray Tulden? She went on a date with him too!" Jake adds fuel to the fire.

"Really? Wow! Nice, Dani but Josh is your boyfriend now huh? I personally like Ray better though."

I glare at the so called two most important men in my life, making them laugh.

I hum as I walk the halls of the school.

"Hey, Dani. You look very cheerful today," Mia grins.

"Yeah, Jared is back!" I grin.

"Really? He's so hot!"

"Eww! Don't say that, he's my brother!"

"Your very hot brother," she giggles. "So what did Josh say yesterday?"

"He forgave me so easily after I told him the whole story," I shrug.

"Really?" She furrows her eyebrows. "That's weird."

"How?"

"Well, you know, his ex, Jessica? She got really drunk and kissed a guy by mistake but Josh immediately dumped her after he heard that."

"Hmm, maybe he likes me just too much," I wink, laughing.

"Um, or maybe, he did something wrong to you too so he's trying to be nice?" Mia laughed, not meaning what she said.

"Haha, yeah. Josh is totally nothing like that!" I laugh it off.

"I hope so, gotta go, bye!"

"See ya!" I turn and get to my next class. On the way, I see a pretty brunette girl talking to Josh, who looked very happy.

Now, I'm starting to rethink about what Mia said.
