Chapter Nineteen - If Only

"Hey, Amber!" I call out, running towards her.

I notice that she wasn't alone. She was with Jake and they were smiling and laughing.

"Amber!!! Jake!!!" Their heads whip towards my direction.

"Dani!" Amber grins. "Morning."

"Morning, Dani bear," He reaches out and ruffles my hair.

"Hey!" I scowl at him.

Amber and Jake laugh.

"Looks like you guys have grown pretty much close, eh?" I grin wickedly. "Is there a love connection that I don't know of?"

"WHATTTTT?????? No way in hell!!!!" Amber bursts.

"Hey, I'm offended here!" Jake pouts. "But anyhow, the same thing Amber said comes from me too."

"I'm offended here!" Amber fakes a pout but I could see her lips twitching up.

I smile.

"Hey, stupid!" Mia glares at me.

"What?!" I look at Mia questioningly.

She pulls me away from Amber and Jake, leaving question marks on their face, and whisper-shouts at me, "I thought you said that you'd dumb that pathetic ass!"

"Oh," My lips form an "O" shape. "Change of plans. I'm going to wait for him to dump me."

"And what makes you so sure that he will dump you?!" Mia questions.

"Because he actually loves Melissa!"

"And you sure he'll realise that?"

"Well, yeah."

"Ugh, whatever. But I still think you should dump him first."

I sigh. "I'm heading to my class now, see you."

"Yeah, see you."

I walk to my next class, suddenly feeling down.

"Good morning, Dani," Josh smiles at me warmly.

"Good morning," I say coldly.

Yeah, that's right! I'm gonna go all bitchy on him so that he dumps me sooner.

"What's wrong?" He frowns.

"Oh, nothing," I huff.

"I don't really-"

"She said that nothing's wrong," A new voice pops out. "So leave it be, Josh."

"Um, okay. I'll see you guys later then," he walks away.

"Thanks, Ray," I sigh.

"No problem," he smiles. "Gotta go so see ya."

"Yeah."

I stare at the ground for a couple of minutes before letting out a loud sigh.

I think I'll skip class.

RRRRRRRIIIINNNNGGGG!!!!!!

Oh well, looks like I'm already late for class.

I head to the garden and flop down the soft grass, relaxing myself.

I close my eyes and enjoy the calmness.

Then I hear a sob.

"Don't cry," a deep voice says.

"I don't want to either," A female voice says. "But they just keep coming out!"

Wait, that's Melissa!

That's when I get ready to eavesdrop, again.

Yeah, I should've learnt better than to eavesdrop again considering what happened the last time I did, but I never learn, now, do I?

"C'mon, Melissa. He doesn't deserve you."

"But I-" her voice cracks. "I really loved him."

"I know you did."

"He told me that he loved me too but I guess he actually really loves Danina, not me."

What the actual fudge?

"So he rejected you just like that?"

"Yeah, now I'm heartbroken!"

I listen no more. I head back inside the school. I see that the bell had rung and people were heading to their next class.

I then spot the person I wanted to see.

I walk up to Josh. "Hey, Josh. Could you meet me during lunch? We need to talk."

"Um, sure," he smiles nervously.

"Okay, see you."

I take a deep breath in. If only Josh realised that he actually loves Melissa, I wouldn't have to do this.

If only.

"Hey," Josh says as he arrived at the garden.

"Hey," I smile.

"Um," He trails off. "You wanted to talk right?"

"Yep!" I plop the P.

"Okay, so..."

"Josh," I start. "I think we need to break up."

There, I said it.

Josh looked shocked. Then his expression turned from shocked to dismay.

Yeah, he's probably thinking something like "Why did I break it off with Melissa?! If I hadn't then I would've been with her now that I'm going to get dumped!".

"W- What?" Josh splutters.

"I said that we should break up."

"W- Why?"

"I don't know. I just think this - we won't work out," I sigh. "So, goodbye, Josh."

"But I- I really love you!" He cries out, desperate. "Don't do this to me, Danina. Please don't!"

"Josh," I soften my voice.

Poor guy. He doesn't even know that he doesn't really love me.

"Please Danina!" He begs me.

"I'm sorry, Josh, but we need to break up. I don't think this is going to work out."

I don't wait for him to say anything. I just turn on my heels and walk away.

But I could, of course, hear him say something.

"I didn't know you were so heartless, Danina."

Oh, if only he knew.

If only.

I'm sorry for the very short chapter, guys! But I was blank.

Plus, I'm having spacing problems, like I said before.

And I'm planning to hurry up and finish this story, get the drama up, if you know what I mean. :D

So don't be surprised if the chapters are shorter than usual.
