Merlin walked out into the courtyard as Arthur's hunting party returned from a long day out. He caught Arthur's horse by the reins and held it still as Arthur dismounted.
"So, how'd it go?" he asked.
"Well, but not in the way we thought," Arthur replied. "We didn't kill anything, but we did bring something back."
"What sort of something?" Merlin asked curiously. "You usually kill everything you see move."
"That's sort of the point of a hunting trip," Arthur replied, crossing his arms. "But, anyways, I doubt we could kill the whelp anyways." He gestured to four guards dragging a teenage boy in chains towards the castle, the boy bloodied and downtrodden, stumbling along drowsily. Merlin gaped at the sight until it passed, looking over at Arthur's smug face with disgust.
"You kidnapped someone?" he said. "A boy? He can't be fifteen yet!"
"He's a sorcerer," Arthur interrupted loudly. "We couldn't just let him run around killing people."
"Well, maybe he doesn't have control of his abilities yet!" Merlin retorted. "Did he even hurt anyone?"
"He almost killed three knights," Arthur snapped. "Why are you defending this boy, anyways? He's dangerous!" Merlin was going to retort, but thought better of it and closed his mouth. Arthur shook his head and headed off into the castle. "Come on," he snapped at Merlin. "You have to get my armor clean."
