Adam was next in line to battle, and he was excited. He could barely stand still as Merlin put on his armor.
"I've never seen anyone so excited to battle," Merlin remarked, smiling at Adam's enthusiasm.
"I just really like beating people up," Adam replied, looking over at him. "It's sort of what I do."
"I'm sure you're good at it," Merlin said. "Considering you have super strength and all."
"Yeah," Adam agreed. "I'm totally gonna win this."
"You say that now, but the knights of Camelot are highly skilled," Merlin said. "It'll take more than brawn to defeat whoever you face."
"Really?" Adam said, tilting his head. "It usually works for me."
"It might not this time," Merlin said, shaking his head. "They're trained to fight people like you, as well as smarter opponents. They're trained to fight pretty much anyone, actually."
"Well, they haven't fought me," Adam replied, smiling confidently. "Trust me, Merlin. I'm gonna win."
"If you say so," Merlin sighed. "Just be careful, all right? Chase almost had a heart attack yesterday watching Bree, and she got away with a black eye."
"Okay, okay," Adam said. "Fine. Chase needs to man up a little, though."
"He just worries," Merlin said. "He feels responsible for you guys since he's the leader and all."
"Well, he doesn't need to worry," Adam said. "We can take care of ourselves."
"He's gonna worry anyways," Merlin said, finishing up and handing Adam his sword and shield. "I doubt I need to ask if you're ready."
"Nope," Adam replied, smiling at him and heading for the door.
"Adam, the tournament's that way," Merlin said, pointing to the other door.
"Oh," Adam said, stopping and walking out of the correct door. Merlin followed, secretly hoping Adam was smarter during the fight.

Adam was facing off against Percival, which Merlin knew Arthur chose to try and match Adam's strength. Once Arthur's hand dropped, both of them rushed at each other, instantly locking sword-to-sword. Adam ended up shoving Percival's to the side and then bringing his up for a sideswipe. Percival deflected it with his shield and aimed for Adam's thigh, which Adam dodged but ended up getting cut anyways. Percival backed off as Adam regained his balance and concentration, the crowd applauding.
"He's dead," Merlin commented to Gaius. "He needs Chase to strategize for him."
"Where's the faith you had yesterday?" Gaius replied.
"It left through the wrong door," Merlin said, leaving Gaius confused. Back in the fight, Adam and Percival were making sparks fly, their swords and shields clanging mightily. Adam ended up knocking Percival's shield away, and then threw his to the side to make the fight even. The crowd cheered, appreciative of the gesture. Adam and Percival fought brutally, inflicting wounds on each other regularly. Percival clearly had the upper hand, but Adam handled most of his attacks surprisingly well. After a while, they both backed up to catch their breath, Percival pulling off his helmet to increase visibility and cool him down. Adam did the same, and they approached each other once again. There was a little more care in this fight than before, especially in overhead attacks and blocks, and a bit more finesse. Eventually Percival, the more skilled swordsman, knocked Adam's sword out of his hand and knocked him over, holding the sword to his chest. After a couple seconds, Percival took his sword away and imbedded it in the ground, offering a hand to Adam. Adam took it, getting up and nodding respectfully at Percival. Percival nodded back and smiled at him, giving him a clap on the shoulder.
"You did well," he said. "You should be proud."
"Thanks," Adam replied breathlessly, smiling back. "You too."
