Gwaine, Adam, and Arthur barged into Gaius's chambers as soon as the battle was over, bloody, beaten, and completely exhausted.
"Where's Chase?" Adam asked, as soon as he came in the room. Merlin and Gaius looked over at them.
"He's in my room," Merlin said. "Bree's got one of your friends working on him, because we couldn't move him back to your dimension."
"Well, is he going to be all right?" Gwaine asked.
"We don't know," Gaius replied. "When I last saw him, he was close to death. It would've taken a miracle to save him." Everyone shifted anxiously and exchanged looks.
"Can I go in?" Adam asked.
"Yeah," Merlin said. "But no one else should." Adam nodded and ran into the room, closing the door behind him.
"We've defeated and contained Morgana," Arthur said. "She shouldn't be able to hurt Chase now."
"Well, the spell still has to complete itself for it to save her," Merlin mumbled. "Chase is still in danger unless she dies."
"Why can't we kill her, huh?" Gwaine asked.
"She's too powerful," Arthur replied. "You know that."
"Well, she's weak now," Gwaine argued. "Let's just go lop her head off." Merlin made a disgusted face.
"She still won't let us," Gaius said. "Remember, she still has control of Chase, and she'll kill him if we make any direct move against her."
"I sure hope Bree has a plan," Merlin said, rubbing his face. "Or something that doesn't involve Chase dying."
"We'll figure out something," Arthur said, walking over and giving him an awkward but heartfelt pat on the shoulder. Merlin gave him a grateful look and set his chin in his hand. A thick, heavy silence hung over the room for a while, representative of the dread inside everyone's hearts and minds. The door opened, and everyone looked over at it. Bree was standing there, with a skinny black boy next to her.
"Guys, this is Leo, our stepbrother," she said.
"Hey," he said, giving them a small wave.
"He's got this ability called energy transference," she said. "It can take energy from something and put it in another thing."
"So, did he save Chase?" Merlin asked, sitting up a little straighter with hope.
"I bought him time," Leo said. "I sort of killed all the plants in the room, but Chase isn't gonna die yet." Everyone let out a slight sigh of relief.
"So, do you have a plan?" Arthur asked.
"Sort of," Leo said. "I figured since Morgana was the one who took Chase's energy in the first place, I could just take hers and put it back in Chase. Problem is, I have to get super close to her to do that, and I'd have to put it pretty much immediately into Chase or it'd sort of go away."
"Well, she's locked up in the dungeon," Gwaine said. "Let's bring him down there and save his life!"
"We can't endanger the lives of many others for one man," Arthur said. "Even though she's weakened, she's still extremely dangerous."
"Look," Bree snapped, running in front of Arthur and pointing at him. "Chase might just be another person to you, but he's our brother, and he means everything to us. If there's even a chance he'll survive, we're gonna take it." She crossed her arms, everyone looking over at Arthur to see what his response would be.
"I'd listen to her," Leo said, nodding. Arthur sighed.
"Fine," he said. "We'll try it." He looked over at Gwaine. "Grab Percival and meet us down in the dungeons."
"Yes, sire!" Gwaine said excitedly, running out of the room.
"Merlin, help them get Chase safely down," Arthur said, turning and walking towards the door. "I'm going to go help Gwaine and Percival wrestle Morgana."
"Ill come help with that too," Adam said, walking out of the room and over to Arthur, heading out after him.
"All right," Merlin said, getting up and heading towards his room to get Chase. "Cmon, guys. It's time we went."
