Morgana walked up to the gates of Camelot, a horse pulling an old cart used to hold Druids and other magical people as they were led to their deaths during the Purge behind her. Inside were Merlin, Gwaine, Chase and Bree.
"We can't let this happen," Merlin whispered.
"It's not like we can do anything about it," Bree hissed back, cradling a corpse-looking but still alive Chase in her arms. "Not with Chase's life on the line."
"We can't let Arthur die, either," Gwaine growled. "Im a knight. I would lay down my life for him."
"Then go ahead," Bree growled. "We aren't helping you psychos anymore."
"I understand," Merlin sighed. "But please, at least let us help you. We don't want Chase to die either. If we do get out, promise you'll run him to Gaius." Bree sighed and nodded.
"I will," she said.
"Be quiet," Morgana snapped, waving her hand and rocking the cage. "Or I'll kill you now and deliver Arthur your bodies." They all fell silent, exchanging a sad look. This was going to be harder than they thought. As they rode up to Camelot, one guard held their spear out to Morgana as the other ran to warn the others. Morgana twisted her hands to the side and snapped the guard's neck, much to the horror of everyone in the cart. Gwaine seethed with anger, his fists clenched as he muttered curse words under his breath, Merlin seemed on the brink of tears, and Bree was just plain scared, holding Chase as close to her as possible, even if it meant hearing his ragged breathing better. They went through the gates, and the sky suddenly became dark. Merlin scooted over next to Bree and wrapped his arm around her shoulders, rubbing her shoulder. Bree leaned into him and pursed her lips, trying her best not to cry. Bree closed her eyes when Morgana started summoning skeletons and demons and killing knights and guards that came to stop her, trying to shut out the world. Still, the screams and yells and warning bells echoed in her ears, and she started to cry. Merlin held her closer and let her cry into his shoulder. Morgana was slightly overwhelmed by all of the knights and guards, and Gwaine nudged them.
"If we're going to leave, we should do it now," he said. Merlin nodded and Bree took in a long breath, calming herself down.
"Let's go," she said.
"Gwaine, I trust you not to tell anyone about this," Merlin said, turning towards the door.
"What're you talking-" Gwaine said, his eyes widening when Merlin used magic to open the door.
"Bree, run," Merlin said, Bree jumping out the back and sprinting away at top speed, disappearing instantly into the crowds.
"I am thoroughly confused," Gwaine said, staring at Merlin.
"I'll explain later!" Merlin said, grabbing Gwaine's arm and running after Bree, heading towards the castle, and Gaius. Gwaine and Merlin ran through the chaos, Gwaine getting lost somewhere in the mix, Merlin not noticing and continuing to sprint. He made it to Gaius's chambers and slammed the door behind him, locking it. He backed up a couple steps and then turned around.
"I lost Gwaine," he said.
"He'll be fine," Gaius said from working on Chase. "Are you all right?"
"I'm fine," he said. "Where are Adam and Arthur?"
"They're out fighting," Bree mumbled, sitting at Chase's head. Merlin nodded and sat down in a chair as well, catching his breath.
"How's Chase?" he asked after a couple seconds.
"He's not doing well," Gaius said. "I don't think I can keep him alive for much longer." Bree got up and walked back into Merlin's room, leaving Merlin and Gaius alone.
"There must be something we can do," Merlin said. "He can't die."
"The only way I could think of would be if we were to reverse Morgana's spell and give Chase back his life," Gaius said. "But we can't figure out how to do that in time." Merlin sighed and rubbed his face with both hands, trying to think.
"What can we do?" he mumbled. Bree opened the door and walked over, her red face making it obvious she had been crying.
"I think I know someone who can help," she said.
