Arthur stared at Merlin in surprise.
"No?" he repeated.
"No," Merlin said again. "I'm not letting you hurt him again. He's just lost and confused and scared, and you're not helping him any."
"Merlin," Arthur growled. "I'm really not in the mood for this."
"Then don't deal with it," Merlin replied. "Just let us hide in Gaius's chambers and don't tell anyone."
"You know I can't do that."
"Why not? Come on, Arthur. Have a little bit of mercy."
"I don't have mercy for sorcerers!" Arthur yelled. "You know why!"
"I know, I understand," Merlin said. "But please, have mercy on this one. He didn't deserve any of this."
"You know what," Arthur snapped. "I don't care. He is a sorcerer and he doesn't deserve to live! He broke my sword and almost killed people!"
"He didn't mean to," Merlin pleaded. "Look, Arthur, at least let us leave here." Arthur sighed.
"Nope," he said, shoving Merlin over and grabbing Chase off of the ground, slinging him over his shoulder and walking out of the cave. "You're in big trouble, Merlin. Come on."
"Give him back!" Merlin yelled, scrambling to his feet and running after Arthur, trying to grab Chase from him.
"No!" Arthur snapped, shoving Merlin backwards. "Go and get your horse, NOW,  or I'm gonna make you watch the warlock burn." Merlin sighed and got up, storming back into the cave and mounting his horse, rising it out and after Arthur, who was already galloping back towards Camelot on his. Merlin knew his rescue plan for Chase had failed, miserably. There was no way Chase was escaping the pyre now.
