A free bird has one goal in sight
To be free as a bird while s/he takes flight
No questions asked. No why's or when's
But with just one goal in sight: to fly again
If s/he can't fly, there is no goal
If that is so, s/he's lost her soul
But s/he can gain it back once she flies without delay
S/he will gain it back and, this time, it'll stayUs humans are different from a bird in so many ways
When we try to fly, we fall to the ground, and, sometimes, that's where we stay
We stay planted on the ground, crying our eyes out
Because no one is near and can't hear our desperate shouts
And when we lose sight of our goal
We also, have lost our soul
Our sole purpose of living on this earth
Is to have a goal and know its worth
Well, sort of. I imagine this is true
Because, without a goal, you can't be you
So, take flight and fall
This will happen a lot as you begin to stand taller than tall
And stand up on your own. That's even a goal
To stand up on your own, and gain back your soul
It's yours for the taking, if you keep on standing up
Never give up even in the rough
So, with a goal in sight, you're like a bird taking flight
One goal is to arrive at your intended destination no matter the plight
Even if it is to fall on the ground once more
At least, you're getting somewhere for sure
So, take that jump; a leap of faith
And, sometimes, you'll land on your feet, unscathed
