Second chances

If I were to hurt your feelings
What would be the best way of dealing?
Would the best way be to ignore me completely?
Or would the best way be to confront me?

If I were to break your heart in some way
What would your response be? What would you say?
Would you just let it slide?
Or would you be open about it and not let it hide?

If I were to accidentally physically hurt you
And you wouldn't know that it's accidental, but it's still true
Would you just push me away without telling me why?
Or would you give me a second chance, another try?

What I wish you'd tell me:
Please just understand even though you cannot inside me, see
You broke the trust we had and it cannot be repaired
Unless you do something about it, the thing will happen that I most feared

We will no longer be friends
And I don't want our friendship to end
But since you broke my trust
Our friendship is like dust

And you can't repair dust, can you?
It'll just fly away as dusts tend to do
So, be careful with me
Because I'm fragile right now, as you can probably see

But the thing is, I'd say
Please don't go away
Give me a second chance, I beg of you
Because, I'd give you a second chance at our friendship even though you hurt me once, that's still true
