If you tell a bird it can't fly
Will it ask 'why can't I?'
Or will it soar through the sky
No questions like why? When you tell a book it can't be read
Will it cry on your bed?
Or will it take you on a journey instead?
Because that's what books do and you should give it some credIf you tell a dog it can't bark
Will it suddenly lose its spark?
Or will it bark even more? Especially in the dark
Because that's what dogs do even in a parkWhen you tell a human it can't be more
Will this human be afraid to soar?
Yes, this human will. This human will stay in bed and be a bore
Because you can't tell a human that a human can't be more. It'll hurt them to the coreWe are more sensitive than the other things I mentioned before
We hurt if you tell us we can't fly and we'll think it's a chore
We will be hurt if you tell us we can't be more then we are. We'll show you the door
And we'll never let you in again because you hurt us once. Who says you won't do it again? Who says you won't make our heart pour?
