The night sky was a beautiful sight. The shining stars twinkled in the darkness as the full moon lit up everything. I sat on the window sill with a cigarette dangling in my mouth. I leaned against the window and just watched the sky.
I remember when I was young, I used to take my little (S/N) outside to watch the stars. He never believed that there were millions and millions of stars out in the sky, but I assured him that there were. I remember holding his little body on my lap, and I also remember him falling asleep on my chest every night.
I felt a small smile creep on my face as I thought about the old memories. I miss the old days, for it was a lot calmer back then. Yes, being a part of the Survey Corps was risking my life, but I stayed alive.
I heard a small knock at my door.
"Come in." I said aloud, then the door creaked open. I looked over to see my little boy standing at the doorway. I smiled at him. "Good evening."
He smiled back and shut the door. He didn't say anything, so I grew worried.
"What's wrong?" I asked him.
(S/N) walked to the window sill and sat next to me. He had this saddened, but calm look on his face.
"Mom, I really have to tell you something." he said to me.
"Is it about why you're still alive?" I asked him.
He nodded slowly and sighed heavily.
"Tell me, baby." I told him while stroking his (H/C) hair.
"I'm afraid that if I tell you, you'll not love me anymore."
"I'll always love you, dead or alive, bad or good, I will always love you. And don't you forget that."
He smiled at me and started twiddling his fingers. (S/N) took a deep breath, then looked up at the ceiling.
"You see, mom, whenever you were gone during the day, dad would take me to this asylum and abuse me. He beat me, did experiments, and even tried to put a serum in me to kill me faster. I remember Mrs. Thomas had to help him because if she didn't he would kill her. I remember she had to beat me so dad would be happy, and at the end of the day she would always apologize to me then you'd come to see me. I loved it when you came, it always made me forget the bad stuff that happened earlier." (S/N) looked behind at the window and looked at the sky.
"You'd used to tell me that there were infinite amounts of stars, and I'd never believe you. After one night in particular, dad took me to the asylum and left me there for two weeks. He gave me a serum, then I grew very, very ill and that was when he took me back home. I practically "died" afterwards, but I can't clearly remember if I knew I was going to die." he started fidgeting with his ring. "I woke up who knows how long later and found myself in the underground. I was lost at first, but I met up with these two parents that lost their daughter. Jeffrey and Beatrice Dunkirk. They said that their daughter was kidnapped by a gang of thugs when she was eight. They treated me like I was their own son until they died from an illness when I was about 14. I survived on my own for four more years, and I found myself going to the surface to protect you."
I nodded at his explanation, then I felt tears come to my eyes as I looked at him, and he frowned.
"Mom, why are you crying?" he asked.
"I can't believe that Floyd did all of that behind my back." I told him. "I never thought that he would go that far."
"Mom, it was fifteen years ago. Don't cry over it, please."
"I can't help it," I told him while tears fell from my eyes.
(S/N) wiped away the tears off my cheeks, then I looked straight into his (E/C) eyes.
"Mom, I'm a titan shifter."
