I gasped as my eyes opened, I hadn't realized I had fallen asleep. It was to no surprise I dreamed of Him again. I didn't know who he was or if he was even real but I always dreamed of Him. Every time I closed my eyes I saw him. Every night it was the same dream. I felt like I knew him, he was so familiar to me yet I had no memory of ever meeting him. In my dreams we were dressed oddly, in old almost ancient clothing. Same for his voice, his accent and they way we spoke to each other. Making me believe they had to be some sort of vision from the past. I had been having the dreams since I came into my magic almost a year ago. This man whoever He was, he haunted my every waking moment. Who was he? How was he connected to me? Why was I having visions of him? In the past year I've tried to control my new magic, my visions of this man and all the powers that came along with them but I was struggling. I was most definitely overwhelmed to say the least. The night my parents died I learned that I was a witch. On top of dealing with the grief of loosing both of my parents in a violent crash I was forced to deal with the fact that I was a witch and I had this unexplained magic. I never dreamed that the stories of magic and witches you grow up with ever being real. I never thought twice about the supernatural, never expected any extraordinary things to happen to me. Ever. I grew up in a small boring town in Virginia where nothing exciting ever happens to anyone. The closest thing to excitement was if a new family moved into town, seeing as everyone else who lived in our town their families had lived there since the town was built. I struggled with my new ability's and sought out help to learn to control them, so I left my home. I left my boring town in Virginia, my job, my friends, the house I grew up in, and my siblings who still don't know about my magic. I left to learn how to control my magic but also to hide and conceal it. I never wanted anyone to know that I was capable of hurting them, I didn't want them to be afraid of me or think I was a freak. So I packed up and left. I spent a long time learning from a few fellow witches in Georgia who taught me all they knew but I still struggled with my control at times. I had a short fuse and I am very hot headed and stubborn. But my teachers insisted it was because I isolated myself from my own life. After a hard look at myself I realized they were right. I took their advise and today I was going home. I was tired of running from the truth, tired of being alone. Being a witch came with powers I could do things I shouldn't be able to. I could make other people do things they didn't to. I can make people feel things, move things with my mind, and read minds as if someone were speaking directly to me. In the beginning that was the hardest to learn to block out, a constant river of voices gushing through my head at all times. I could even create a shield made from energy around myself blocking me from attacks. The same shield that saved me in the accident that killed my parents. But all magic came with a price. It weakened me to the point of nose bleeds and even to the point of passing out. It was a harsh reminder that even though I was different now, powerful and strong, I was also fragile. I looked up at the passing sign. "Welcome to Mystic Falls." My home, at least it used to be my home. Until my parents died. At first I couldn't tell you how me and my sister survived I just remember the car going off the bridge, the impact of us hitting the water, water coming through the vents and panicking and drowning. But later small flashes of my memory's of the accident came back to me and I remember feeling an overwhelming exploding sensation, now looking back I realized it was my magic. The moment my powers had awaken. It somehow ripped the car door off the frame of the car and freed me from the watery grave. To this day I don't remember my sister making it to the surface of the water, I passed out after my magical explosion. But somehow my sister and I made it to the surface and our parents didn't. I always thought my magic saved us both somehow, but I have no recollection of saving my sister at all. Her escape was a miracle. My sister, my twin to be exact, Elena was just as confused as I was.

The sign filled me with dread but also with a sense of comfort. I left my home town because I couldn't deal with the grief and the pity stares that I got when I walked outside. Everyone went out of their way to make me feel better. That's the problem with small towns everyone knows everyone and when something happens they gossip about it and whisper behind your back. I hate that. And worse I could hear them, their thoughts always present in my head. I could hear their pity in their minds and I couldn't take it anymore. I couldn't shut the thoughts out, the magic was getting the best of me and I couldn't take it anymore. I pressed one of the buttons on the panel of the car down and the window slowly started to come down. The wind immediately ran in to the car and blew my brunette waves around my face. In a few minutes I'd be home I'd get to see my sister, my brother, and my Aunt again. I turned in my seat to look at the driver. Brown short curly hair and gorgeous blue eyes there was no doubt he was hot. If I was just a few years older but that would be kind of weird since I've dated his nephew and he used to baby sit me as a kid. Oh well one can dream. "So why are you going back to Mystic Falls Mason?" I ask curious. "When you left you said you were never going to go back." He turned his eyes off the road to gaze at me for a moment. "My brother died." He whispered. "Mayor Lockwood died?" I gasped shocked. "How?" He returned his eyes back to the road. "A fire, the wiring in your family's old building caught fire and he was inside." "I didn't know." He shrugged. "So why are you back? I didn't even know you'd left until I saw you." He asked and I nearly rolled my eyes "I left after my parents funeral and I'm on my way back because I got tired of running, I missed my family. I've been gone a year so I figured it was time to come home." I said truthfully. I hoped he wouldn't ask me where I had been, trying to explain that I had been looking for witches to teach me wasn't something I wanted to get into. "Well, welcome home Alina." Mason said as the car rolled to a stop just outside the Lockwood mansion which was buzzing with people. "It's a wake." Mason explained as he stepped out of the car slamming the door behind him. "Well, well, well the black sheep returns," Called a very familiar voice. A smile spread across my face as I stepped out the car. "Make that two black sheep." I smirked. He looked at me confused for a moment. "Elena, what are you doing with Mason?" "I'll give you a clue I'm not Elena." A grin spread across his face and his eyes lit up "Alina?" He asked shocked. "The one and only." I laughed but when he didn't make any sort of movement I frowned. "Are you just gunna stand there or are you going to give me a hug?" He mentally shook himself then ran over to me and pulled me in to a hug. "It's good to see you." He whispered into my hair. "It's good to see you too, and I'm sorry about your dad." I said as I rubbed his shoulder. "Thanks you can go on inside Bonnie and Elena are already inside." He said a little too quickly. He was the kind of guy who needed to be strong all the time, he didn't want to feel weak. Especially in front of his Ex. "Okay thanks, I'll see you later, Ty." That was my nickname for him, I was the only one allowed to call him that. "Thanks for the ride Mason." I thanked. "Any time." He smiled. I gave a quick wave before I made my way inside. It hadn't changed but then nothing ever changed in this town. I walked around for a while trying to search for my sister but I gave up as my efforts turned futile. So instead I walked over to the side of the house and gazed out the window, wondering if coming back here was the right decision. "Hello." I turned to the right to see a man beside me. He had black hair and ice blue eyes that seemed to burn through me, there was no doubt he was gorgeous. And strangely familiar. As I studied him I got an odd feeling. He stepped closer to me and put his hand on the back of my crossed arms. The moment our skin made contact I suddenly saw images of him and I flashing through my mind. They were images of him and me from the past, we were in bed together. Kissing and laughing. I could feel his breath on my skin and I shivered under his touch. It looked like the past, the 1800s maybe by the look of the clothing. I could hear him whisper he loved me in my ear and as sudden as the images came they were gone. I was completely consumed in the flash until I took a breath and returned to the present where the man was standing before me. I had been getting these images in my head ever since my parents had died mostly of the other man, a blonde who seemed to worship the very dirt I walked on. It was almost a relief to be having a vision of someone new. Sometimes I would get visions of the future and sometimes the past. I didn't know at first what they were, I thought I was going crazy it was the more logical reason. But I had a vision that came to pass, and after I knew what they were. I wasn't quite sure why but they were happening more and more lately and what really confused me was the visions of the past felt more personal, like memories rather than the other visions. But I had never seen this man before me in my visions before, only the Blonde man. I mentally shook myself and took a step back, his hand leaving my arm. "Hello," I was barely able to mutter, trying to be polite. "How are you?" I asked as I straightened up trying to mentally shake off the vision. "I kissed you thought you kissed me back, doppelganger high jinks. How do you think I'm doing?" He asked obviously flustered. "Excuse me?" I questioned confused. "Why is it such a big surprise that I would kiss you?" He growled. "I think you have me confused-" But he cut me off. "I'm not confused Elena, this thing that's been going on between us. It not all in my head and you know it, it's not all one sided-" Before he had a chance to continue I but in. "I'm not Elena." His eyes turned dark as he grabbed my arm in an iron like grip causing me to wince. "Katherine." He snarled. "Who?" I asked as I tried to pull my arm away but it was no use he was too strong. If he applied anymore pressure my bone would break. I noticed when he touched me that I got this weird feeling, cold almost. I was a little confused between the feeling and noticing the way he smelled. He smelled intoxicating and so familiar to me, it was such a bizarre moment for me. Extreme deja Vu and conflicting feelings. One telling me to stay away and the other pulling me in "Don't play games with me." He hissed. "Ow! You're hurting me!" Tears threatened to fall but I tried to blink them back. With my free hand I put all my strength in to it and swung it towards his face connecting it with his nose. He let go of my arm and stumbled back shocked. He tipped his head to the side and watched me curiously as I rubbed my arm. "You're weak; if you were Katherine you'd be strong." He stated in a state of confusion "Gee thanks dick head." I snapped. "And if you were Elena you'd recognize me, or slap me. She slaps she doesn't punch." He smirked. "I told you that asshole." I cursed. "And you have quite a mouth on you. So who exactly are you?" He questioned with a raised eyebrow. "I'm her sister." I snapped. His eyes widened and his mouth dropped open but I didn't wait for his reply I stormed off down the corridor. I didn't look where I was going as I rubbed my arm which was now throbbing with pain, so I didn't see the person until they knocked it to me and I fell to the ground. I looked up to see a familiar caramel colored face. "Jeeze Bonnie." I mumbled as I pulled myself to my feet. "Elena, I just called you, you said you were only just leaving." She said in a worried tone "Wrong twin." I muttered. A smile broke out on her face as she wrapped her arms around me and pulled me tightly against her chest "Alina?" She nearly gasped. "Surprise." I laughed. "When did you get back?" She asked. "About an hour ago." "It's so good to finally have you back. It's been such a long and complicated year, you wouldn't believe in half the stuff that's happened here." "Try me, the stuff I found out before I left would make me sound crazy but anyway enough of talk about the past, where's Care? She's usually the first person at these events mostly because she's the one who helps organize them." I smirked. "You mean you haven't heard?" I shook my head as I waited for her to continue. "Caroline's in the hospital, she was in a car crash." My eyes widened as my mouth hung agape in shock. "But you don't need to worry, she made an amazing recovery. I think they'll be releasing her tomorrow or the day after." She explained. I let out a breath I didn't realize I'd been holding. "So she's not seriously hurt?" I worried. "No but I'm sure she'd love to see you, you should visit her later." She suggested. "I will." I nodded. "Bonnie?" A voice just like my own questioned. I turned around to meet the eyes of my twin who had a look crossed between worry, fear and disbelief on her face. "LINA?" Jenna screamed as she dropped the bag she was holding and leaped in my arms hugging me so tight I could barely breathe. "Hey Aunt Jenna." I laughed at her eagerness. "You're back." She said as she pulled back amazed. I watched as Elena gave Bonnie a hesitant look. Bonnie nodded then Elena pulled me in to a hug as well. "I'm so glad you're back. I missed you so much. Are you staying for good?" She asked as she sniffled, tears threatening to fall. "Yes, that's if Jenna will let me have my room back." I smiled innocently at Jenna who laughed. "You don't even need to ask." "And we meet again." A masculine voice purred behind me. I turned around to meet the blue eyed man who I'd met five minutes earlier. "Elena are you not going to introduce me to your sister?" He asked looking at Elena. "Damon this is Alina, Alina this is Damon." I looked at Jenna who was glaring at Damon. "Please tell me he's not your boyfriend." I said glancing at Elena. "He's not her boyfriend." Jenna answered still glaring at him. "He just wishes he was." "Good he's a douche bag. Look what he did to me." I rolled up my jacket sleeve and showed them the bruises that were already appearing. Jenna grabbed my hand and pulled my arm out to inspect it. She lightly touched one of the purple marks and I winced. "If you come anywhere near my nieces again I swear to god you'll regret it." She warned as she let go of my hand. "I'm sorry, I mistook her for someone else." He said as he locked eyes with Elena then he turned back to me. "I'm truly sorry, Lina. Can I call you Lina?" He asked smirking as he waited for my reaction as though I'd fall for his charms. "No." I said sternly. "No?" He asked confused. "N.O," I spelled. "You know the opposite of yes." I said sarcastically. He looked stunned but I ignored him and turned my attention back to Jenna and Elena. "So where's my annoying baby bro?" "He went off in search of a bathroom." Elena answered as she tried to cover her amusement at my bluntness with Damon. "Great, I'll see you guys later." I called. I followed the corridors and moved past the crowds of people all gathered to celebrate the mayor's life. Finally the talking started to die down and this part of the house grew quiet. "Sorry about your dad. I remember after my parents died everyone came to my house saying what great people they were." "Yeah but in your case it was true. My dad's a dick." Ty nearly laughed. "Yeah, he was." I answered from the doorway. They both turned to me. "Elena you can't say that." Jeremy scolded. "Not Elena and it's true so I can." "Hey, fancy joining us Lina?" He asked as he held out a flask for me. Jeremy jumped up hearing my name and pulled me in to a hug. Boy was I popular today. "I would love to." I said as I took the flask from Tyler and took a sip. The alcohol burned on the way down but I didn't mind. The flask was ripped from my grip and I looked up to see Mason standing beside me. Jeremy and Tyler looked away guilty while I just smiled at Mason. "Don't you two have somewhere else to be I need to speak to Tyler." Mason said barely paying any attention to who he was actually speaking to. "Buzz kill." I muttered as I grabbed Jeremy's arm and pulled him from the room. "So when did you get back?" He asked. "Today, about an hour ago." "How long are you staying?" He questioned "As long as you'll have me." I smiled. He wrapped his arm around my shoulder and pulled me against his chest. "You're never gunna leave then." He laughed. "I missed you." He smiled sheepishly I laughed. "Missed you too Jer." We walked outside like that, a brother and sister catching up for lost time. I didn't realize how much I'd missed my brother till now. We looked and saw Elena up ahead with some guy on a bench. "That's her boyfriend Stefan." Jeremy commented as he saw me looking. "He's hot." I stated. "Eww" Jeremy grimaced making me laugh. "Put that shirt down Fabio." Damon said as he approached them. "Nah I'd leave it." I laughed Jeremy smacked my arm but laughed despite himself. Stefan pulled his shirt down and Elena turned to look at me and then Stefan as she introduced us. "Alina this is Stefan my boyfriend, Stefan this is Alina my sister." I shook Stefan's hand before looking back at Elena. I noticed I was getting that odd feeling again, coldness almost a warning only this time it was coming from Stefan. I looked to Damon in wonder. It was coming from both of them. So weird. "Can I borrow your car to visit Caroline, mines not here yet?" I had a beautiful motorcycle that I was having delivered here. "Yeah sure." She fished out her keys from her pocket and handed them over to me. "Don't crash." She warned joking but a pang in my heart made my wince a little "I'll try but I'm not promising. You coming Jer?" I called after my little brother. "You can drop me off at home on your way." He answered. "It was nice to meet you Stefan." I turned to Damon who was smirking at me "You not so much." His smirk dropped and he glared at me not at all amused, so I took that as my queue to leave.

I walked down the hallway to the specific room I had been searching for and stepped in. "Oh Caroline." I called as I walked in through the door. I waved the bag of food I brought with me and immediacy jumped up in bed. "Alina you're back!" She cried. "And you brought McDonald's." I threw her the bag and she eagerly opened it and started to eat. "You do not understand how bad hospital food is." She moaned as she bit in to the big mac. "God, I love you, this, it's amazing." I smiled no matter what happens Caroline will always be Caroline. "You called me Lina?" I asked. "Yeah so?" She said confused. "No one can tell me and Elena apart." "I can, you're my best friend; don't get me wrong Bonnie and Elena are great friends and my best friends too but they're no you. I mean they gave me get well soon cards you got me a miccy Ds, it shows how much you know me." "I love you too Care." I smiled as I took a seat beside the bed. "You missed so much this year. Did you know I'm now dating Matt?" She gushed, her happiness clearly displayed on her face. "Really you and Matt?" I questioned disbelievingly. "You and Matt are complete opposites. I mean Matt's kind, compassionate, friendly, nice and you're you." She slapped my arm playfully and we both burst out laughing. "Opposites attract." She defended after she stopped laughing. "Well as long as you're happy. But I've got to go now, I've still got to unpack all my clothes and stuff, but I promise I'll come visit you tomorrow." "Okay, thanks for coming and for the food." I gave her a hug and said. "No problem I'll bring you more tomorrow." I turned to walk out and ran straight into my mirror image. "Elena, hey." I looked her up and down and raised my eyebrows in confusion. "You changed clothes and curled your hair in less than an hour that must be a new record." I laughed but she only looked at me confused. "I'll see you back at home unless you want me to wait and I'll give you a ride." "No, it's alright you go ahead I'll see you soon." She assured me and took a step away towards the exit. "Are you okay?" I asked her as I reached to touch her arm. I shivered a moment as I got a cold feeling from her that made the hair on the back of my neck stand. I pulled my hand away quickly "I'm fine, it's just been a long day." She assured me. "Yeah," I said as I tried to shake off the weird feeling. "You're right, I'll see you later." I said as I stepped away from her and began my stride to the exit. It has definitely been a long day, and an extremely weird one.
