Alina is Elena Gilbert's older twin sister. Both girls lived an entirely normal human life up until a tragic car accident. Alina and Elena were the only survivors. With all the loss and fear of her magic Alina left Mystic falls to find out how to control her new powers and find herself along the way. Alina spent most of her time learning magic from a small coven of witches. She spent her time learning to decipher her most potent ability. Alina has the gift of sight. She can see visions of the past and occasionally the future. Since the night of the accident Alina had been plagued with visions of a man. He appears in all of her dreams and she frequently has visions of him and his life. But who was this man? What was he trying to show Alina in her dreams? She spent nearly a year trying to figure it out without success. There was no hope so Alina gave up her search for anything to do with the man in her dreams. Now nearly a year later Alina Gilbert returns home to Mystic Falls to leave the supernatural behind only to find it had spilled into her home in her absence. Her younger twin sister Elena let the supernatural into her life and trouble quickly followed. It's in Mystic Falls that Alina meet's Damon Salvatore and he turns her world upside down. At first she blames Damon and his younger brother, Elena's boyfriend for all the supernatural problems in there lives but after a few occurrences Alina finds that the supernatural didn't just fall into her and Elena's laps, it followed them. Will Alina continue to just be normal and ignore the supernatural completely or will she embrace who she really is and fight to protect her family and find out who the man in her visions is and why he is connected to her.
