"Excellent, Thalia!" Elijah praised as I shot an arrow into a target that we had set up. The arrow went straight into the middle of the target with almost no effort. I was quite a talented hunter, better than any of the men in the village. Of course, mine and Elijah's meetings were always in secret since Mikael disapproved of women doing anything other than cooking and cleaning. Mikael had been away and was due to return home soon but we had gotten no word on when he would be back."Thank you, Lijah." I curtsied grandly. I could always find peace with Elijah and the others opposed to Mikael. Whenever Mikael was around, the entire family would be walking on egg shells. Especially Nicklaus and I. We were never accepted by Mikael and we didn't think we ever would be. "You need to straighten the arm that holds the bow. It will make the arrow fly straighter." Lijah instructed me and I smiled gracefully. I had learned how to shoot a bow when I was seven, nearly a thousand years ago. But I was simply entertaining Lijah. I took up another arrow from my quill and shot it at the target, this time taking Elijah's advice. I was ready to let go but a sudden movement in the woods startled me. The arrow went rogue, flying into the trunk of a big tree. To my dismay, a pack of riders came through the forest and one of them was Mikael. He looked the least bit pleased that an arrow had nearly hit him. He shouted orders to the other riders to leave while he galloped up to the pair of us. I felt terror grip my as Mikael dismounted his horse and walked up to us. "Who shot that arrow?" Mikael bellowed angrily and the two of us flinched. His temper was explosive. Elijah moved to step forward but I placed my hand on his shoulder. "It was I, Mikael." I replied. If looks could kill I would be dead in my spot. Mikael continued to stare down at me. "I am sorry, you're riders startled me." I apologized quietly. Mikael ignored me and grabbed another arrow from the quill. "Do it again." He commanded. I eyed the arrow in his hand and shook my head. "It is not a woman's place to-" I began trying o calm him. "I said, do it again!" Mikael demanded as he flung the arrow into the ground. The arrow head was buried deep in the ground and barely missed my feet. I drew in a breath before plucking the arrow out of the ground and aligning it with the bow the way Elijah had taught me. As I drew the string I winked at Lijah from the corner of my eye so Mikeal would not see. I focused on my target before pulling on the string harder before letting go. The arrow flew perfectly straight through the air in hit the center of the target. It even split my previously shot arrow in half. I smiled to myself but knew that Mikael wouldn't be happy with me. Mikael took up my bow from my hands and broke it over his knee. He tossed the pieces at my feet and my eyes burned red with anger. "If I ever see you practicing again." Mikael started, but Elijah was quick to speak up. "Father, it was my fault. I am the one who has been teaching her. If anyone should be punished, then punish me." He begged and moved so that I was behind him, shielding me from his father's wrath. "You are a fool to think that she is part of this family." Mikael growled. "She is my friend, father. I will not shun her just because you do not approve of her." Elijah said strongly and Mikael's eyes moved between his son and me. "She is my family." He added. "She left you for your brother, she is a demon whore. Do not ever teach her again." He sneered at his son and got back on his horse. As Mikael went to ride off I lifted my hand out parallel with the forest floor and pulled my fingers into a tight fist. There was a muffled gurgling noise before Mikael fell off his horse to the forest floor. He gripped at his own neck as if trying to remove a hand that griped him tightly. Of course there was no hand just the grip of my magic. He pissed me off and I was tired of taking orders from such a fragile human. I rose my hand until Mikael's feet were a good foot from the floor. I slowly brought him closer to me by the power of my mind. I brought Mikael close until my hand wrapped its way around his neck and I released him from my magic but not my hybrid grip. "Don't you ever forget who and what I am Mikael. You summoned me here for a reason and you are not persuading me in a good way right now. I am a thousand years your senior and you will conform and show me respect. Do not presume to think you have any sway over my decisions or what I choose to do. Do you understand? Next time you forget what I am capable of we will be meeting again in less friendly circumstances." I threatened before dropping him. He hit the forest floor with a thud and I kicked him onto his back. "Now go before I decide to make a meal out of you." I threatened and he scrambled to his feet and ran to his horse before galloping off leaving the two of us to stand there. "Thalia, please don't be upset." Elijah pleaded. "He hates me." I stared angrily. He did not always despise me so, he didn't particularly like me because I was a monster, but he did not despise me until I broke Lijah heart. But that was some time ago and everyone else even Lijah had moved on "He summoned me here and I came willingly and this is what I get!" I kicked the pieces of my bow. Elijah felt pity for me but he would do anything and everything to keep me from Mikael's anger. Even if we were no longer romantic he still cared for me and I him. It wasn't Mikeals anger that bothered me, it was how me made me feel like an outsider. I felt like I had finally found the family I was missing and Mikeal would not budge. But I would find a way to make him, even if I had to remove him from the picture. Elijah held me in his arms and comforted me with words but I was determined and livid with the ruthless Viking idiot.
