I heard the front door open and Rebekah walk in, I was already halfway down the stairs. "I'm going to meet up with Niklaus and help find the stakes. Will you be alright here?" I asked her as I pulled my jacket on. "Yes, I am a thousand years old. I think I can take care of myself." She mused from the archway. "I know, you are very capable Rebekah even when you where human. It's one of the many reasons I admire you." I smirked and took her hand. "The stakes are out there and the Salvatore's are unpredictable. While you're here I put a spell around the mansion, no supernatural being can get in without yours mine or Niklaus's permission until sunrise. That means the Salvatore's can't get in. So you're safe here for now." I assured her and she nodded. "Please don't leave the house until I return with the stakes. I do not wish to see you dead." I pleaded with her and she nodded. "I will be back soon." I said as I let her go and headed to the door.

I was to meet Klaus in town, he said he needed my ways of persuasion. I of course agreed to help him but he didn't tell me where we were going only that I was to meet him in town at two. So here I was walking the streets of the town looking for my lover. I spotted him quickly on a park bench in the middle of the small garden. I sat next to him and smiled as I rested my head on his shoulder. "Are you going to tell me what we are doing here or do I have to get into that head of yours and see for myself?" I asked with a laugh. His chest vibrated with laughter and he took my hand and brought it to meet his lips. "We are going on a venture today to get some answers." He said mysteriously to me. I tilted my head to look up at him to find his eyes were already on me. "Don't dance around my questions." I warned him. "It's seems Alaric Saltzman has been experiencing a split personality and his alter ego has taken his stake and hidden it." He said truthfully. "Wonderful." I said sadly and did not budge. He looked to me with curiousness and put his arm around me to hold me closer. "What is bothering you, love?" He asked with worry in his voice. "Don't you ever just get tired of it?" I asked him with exhaustion in my voice. "What do you mean?" He asked me "Don't you ever get tired of this life? It seems like no matter what I do right something always goes wrong." I said as I looked out in front of us not wanting to meet his gaze. "You are sad about your sister, it will pass on." He told me. "I miss the simplicity of our life, the way it was before." I told him with longing in my voice. "Tell me, love. Where was your favorite place we lived, what was your favorite era?" He asked and I smiled immediately remembering our past homes. "New Orleans. Even after the fire, I could still hear the music. I can still hear it now." I smiled into his shoulder. "I promise when we are done here in Mystic falls we shall go back. We will rebuild what we had. We can have that life again." He swore to me and I smiled. "We won't have to run anymore from Mikeal, we can stay there." I said with hope in my voice. "Yes, we will stay." He assured me. "Now, let us deal with this steak crisis and then we can go." He said and I stood. "Then tell me where we are going?" I asked him with more oomph in my attitude. "To the Salvatore's." He said as he stood and took my hand.

I pushed the door open and Klaus followed me in, still holding my hand. "I'll be right back." I said and he nodded to me. I climbed the stairs quickly and walked to the only closed door in the house. I drag my fingers across the smooth wood of the door until my fingers snagged on the door knob. I turn the knob ever so slightly and it opens and creaks its way to the side of the wall, creating a passageway for me to fit my slender body through. I make my way in and smile as I take in the extravagant room, the room was just as I remembered. The room that belonged to Damon Salvatore. This room was Damon's sanctuary. This was the place he went to think, other than the bar. I step in letting my eyes wander over his belongings, letting the memory's flow. I let my hand slide across his bed, across the satin red sheets that were all too familiar to me, to the bed side table that had a book on it that struck my interest. My curiosity took me over as I lift the book and smile as I read the cover. "Gone with the wind." Typical Damon. I go to sit it back down and as I do an old paper slips out. I set the book down as my head slightly turns to the left. This paper seemed old, it was crinkled. It wasn't the typical white a normal paper was it was an off white, almost a yellow. I lean over and pick it up carefully I turn it over my heart warms as I see what was on the other side. The paper was flimsy it was obviously handled a lot in the past. On the side that made my heart warm was an old picture from 1864 of me and Damon. In Kassandra's form of course, but it was still me. I remembered clearly when the picture had been taken. It warmed my heart that he valued it so much. After all the fighting and arguing he still felt attached to a piece of me, the only piece he had left. I smile as I slide the picture back into the book and wipe away the tear on my cheek.
