I sifted through the cabinets, grabbing a bottle of bourbon. I still couldn't believe Damon had kissed Elena and then tried to kiss me. He claimed that kissing Elena was a mistake, and even if he apologized for it I wasn't sure that I could completely trust him. I wouldn't. He broke my heart and I wasn't going to forgive easily. "Hey..." Elena's voice drifted into my ear and I turned to face her. "Look, Thalia...I'm sorry for–" "You don't have to apologize, Elena." I slammed the door to the cabinet shut. I didn't want to be angry with Elena but deep down, I was. I turned to walk down the hallway, but Elena walked around me to block my way. "Yes, I do." Elena pleaded with her brown eyes and I leaned against the wall cabinets. She had the same brown eyes Thira had, and I could never say no to them. "You have two minutes." I said and crossed my arms across my chest. "That kiss...with Damon was a mistake." Elena started. "Yeah, Damon said that same thing." I scoffed, rolling my eyes. "That's because it was. Damon doesn't feel anything for me. He cares for you." She said. "Sure he does, Elena." I said sarcastically. "He's the one who wanted to un-daggered you the night of the dance. He couldn't take it that Mikael used you so he snuck down there and was going to pull the dagger out without telling Mikael." Elena explained. "He feels something for you. He's just a little scared of Klaus." She finished meekly. "I'm not surprised. Everyone is scared of my Niklaus that's the way I taught him. He threatened Damon at the Grill the other day." "I would have never pegged Klaus for the 'protective boyfriend' type." Elena had to laugh at that. "He never was until he saw you with Damon at the Grill that day. I mean, he let his father kill you so why he's jealous now I'll never know." Elena added and I growled. "Klaus loves me. I know it's annoying that he's trying to kill you all, but he's still my family." I said. "My parents are gone and I wish that I could have just one day to talk to them again." She said sadly and I looked back at her with sad eyes. "Sometimes I can still see their faces in your sisters memories." I told her carefully. "It's just...I've been with Klaus for so long that I forget what it's like to let people in." I state. "And when things like this happen I am reminded as to why I do it. He betrayed my trust and broke my heart." I nearly growled. "Just don't shut Damon out." She nearly begged with guilt in her voice. "Hey, uhm, we're having a birthday party for Caroline tonight. Why don't you come?" "I don't know, Elena." I dismissed. "Come on, please? It'll be fun." Elena smiled. "Yeah, just what your friends wanna do. Spend some time with Klaus's girlfriend." I mumbled before turning on my heel and making my way down the hallway.
I sat at the bar when I felt my phone vibrate again. I scoffed, setting my phone down on the bar after reading a text from Elena. The doppelganger was trying to get me to come to Caroline's birthday celebration. I had to give the girl credit, she sure was persistent. Klaus had even asked me to be the guest of honor at a council meeting in which he was attending, but I turned that offer down as well. I just wanted to drown my sorrows for a little while. I was conflicted, my thoughts running around in all sorts of twisted directions. I wanted my family back and I couldn't shake the feeling that Damon knew something about their location. Damon, Damon, Damon. I shook my head and flagged down the bartender for another drink. I just couldn't stop thinking about him. I mentally scolded myself time and time again for feeling something for him because I was acting like some lovey-dovey little girl. I wasn't supposed to fall in love with him but I did, and now I was dealing with the consequences of that. Damon was Damon and he was prone to act on impulse, and because of that he had crushed my heart and broke my trust. I was stupid to think that Damon could love me like Klaus did. My phone rang once again and I was just about to crush the damn device in my hand when I saw that I was receiving a call from an unknown number. I rolled my eyes, pressing talk before holding the phone to my ear. "Hello?" "Thalia! It's Tyler!" "Hold on, before I hang up, how'd you get this number?" I replied smartly. "You need to help me! It's Caroline!" The young hybrid said quickly. "What happened, Tyler?" I asked him. I could sense the worry in his voice. "I...I bit her. It was an accident! I didn't mean to! I thought I could handle myself, but I lost control. "Tyler stammered out and I threw some bills on the bar, covering the cost for my drinks before grabbing my coat. "Where are you? I'm on my way." "She's in the cemetery. She told me to leave her alone so I just did. Please help her."
