Calum's eye flickered open, slowly adjusting to the bright light that was filtering through the gap in his curtains as usual. He looked down and realised Michael was leaning on his chest, still fast asleep.

"Micahel, Michael... Oi Clifford." Calum said, shaking Michael's shoulder. Michael grumbled slightly and slept on, burying his face in Calum's pyjama shirt.

"Michael, get off me."

"Just 5 more minutes," Michael muttered sleepily.

"Clifford, you have 10 seconds to get off." Calum snapped. "1...2.."

"Okay..." Michael groaned, rolling away from Calum. "Don't get your panties in a twist."

Calum heard his mother's footsteps in the hallway, and quickly shoved Michael further away from him, accidentally pushing him off the bed. He fell onto the completely deflated mattress with a loud thump, just as Joy knocked on the door before pushing it open.

"Wake up Calum, Michael." She said.

"We are mum," Calum replied. "Look wide awake." He pointed to weds Michael who was running his eyes sleepily, while massaging his side.

"Yes Calum, I can see that. I want you both downstairs for breakfast in 10 minutes. Any later and you'll have to make your own." She turned around and left the room. As soon as she did, Michael turned to face Calum, glaring at him.

"What was that for?" Michael hissed.

"We were in the same bed," Calum hissed back.

"And..?"

"Have you forgotten about my mother Michael? She would have freaked. I don't know about you but I don't want to deal with that again this week."

"You didn't have to push me so hard. Asking nicely would have done the same thing." Michael groaned, continuing to rub his side.

"Yes, because you always cooperate with me." Calum snapped back sassily.

"So your next best option was to shove me onto the floor and crack a couple of my ribs?" Michael replied with equal sass.

"I did not crack your ribs, stop being dramatic."

"You could have."

"But I didn't, did I?"

"It's okay then, pushing me out of the bed, for the second time, is okay because I didn't get hurt." Michael exclaimed.

"Shut up and stop complaining before I give you an actual injury!"

"Don't threaten your guest Calum," Michael smirked, " Mummy won't be happy."

"Shut up!" Calum snapped, throwing a pillow at his face. Michael blocked the pillow with his arms, grinning smugly.

Calum shot Michael a glare as he walked out of the room to get changed in the bathroom.

"Why do we have to have Math first on a Tuesday?" Calum groaned, shutting his locker. Ashton fell into step next to him.

"You chose to take it," Ashton told him. "It's not the subject you don't like, it's Michael."

"Okay, that's true, but dealing with him all week is making me so mad. He was complaining because I "almost cracked his ribs" this morning."

"How-?" Ashton asked, looking questioningly at Calum.

"Doesn't matter." Calum muttered, shaking his head.

"Nah C'mon Calum," Ashton begged. "Did you punch him? You can't tell half a story."

"Really, it's not important.."Calum said quickly, walking a bit quicker along the corridor.

"Oh but it is Cal." Michael announced, appearing out of nowhere beside him. "It's incredibly important."

"Michael, don't you dar-" Calum growled. Michael just smirked at him, his eyes twinkling mischievously.

"Do you not want your dear best friend to know?" Michael taunted, raising his pierced eyebrow at Calum. "Keeping secrets are we?"

"Michael, I will-"

"Calum almost broke my ribs this morning, pushing me out of his bed."

"Clifford." Calum hissed, hiding his face behind his folder in embarrassment as Ashton looked at him in surprise.

"Before he gets a chance to lie, no I wasn't being annoying, he let me sleep there. He's just too embarrassed to say, aren't you Hood?" Michael pinched Calum's bright red cheeks, grinning at him.

"Get off me." Calum muttered, swatting his hand away. Michael raised his hands in surrender. He had done what he wanted to do and he wasn't going to hang around in Calum's arms reach for too long. He walked off down the corridor, smirking to himself.

"Calum?"

"Don't." Calum growled. His face was still red, and he hated it.

"Aww, but your blushing." Ashton cooed. "This is a big step Calum, maybe you're going too fast."

"Tell anyone Ashley, and I'll end you."

"Whatever you say Cally. Whatever you say." Ashton grinned.

"Hey Calum," Michael said, sitting down in the seat next to him at lunch. "Are you looking forward to PE?"

"No," Calum grumbled.

"But you get to spend more time with me, your best buddy." Michael threw his arm around Calum's shoulder. Calum shrugged it off aggressively, keeping his gaze in the table.

"Somebody is not having a good day today," Michael stated.

"I wonder why that is," Calum replied sarcastically. "Could have something to do with the idiotic skunk sitting next to me?"

"I thought we were getting along Hood." Michael pouted. "I was looking forward to finding out what it's like to have an Asian friend."

"1. I'm not Asian, I'm Kiwi. 2. You and I are never going to be friends." Calum said, holding up his fingers as he counted the points.

"Ouch."

"Fuck off Clifford."

"Good talk." Michael said nodding as he got up and say at the opposite side of the table. He was quickly replaced by Thomas, who looked almost as annoyed as Calum did.

"What's up?" Calum asked him as he let out a sigh.

"Football."

"What about football?"

"You're not on the team," Thomas said defeatedly. "That's what's up with football. The reserve striker, he's a decent player, but he's got nothing on you and he tries to run the team. I'm the captain. When I remind him, he starts complaining about everyone else's performance and we can't set rid of him because we have no one else."

"That's my fault, I'm sorry Tom." Calum told him, feeling incredibly guilty.

"It's okay Calum, it's not a big deal. Can you please come to the next practice though? I'm going to need your help or I going to lose my mind."

"Or your temper?" Calum added.

"Whichever comes first." Thomas sighed, holding his head in his hands. "Practice is after school tonight, can you make it?"

"Yeah."

"Thank the Lord," He exclaimed half heartedly.

"And if it's really bad, we'll go get ice cream." Calum suggested.

"IceDream is a life saver." Thomas laughed.
