The tension between Calum and Michael was at an all time high as they approached the end of the week. Even during their fight 3 weeks previously, the tension wasn't as high. The atmosphere was so thick, it could be cut with a knife during their detentions, where they had stopped making snide comments and sat in silence, glaring at each other with intense disliking. It was difficult for Mr Youngson to decide which one of the two hated the other more.

Luke and Ashton had made an agreement to keep the two boys as far away from each other as possible during lunchtime. Both of them had decided that stopping their best friends from fighting was more important than spending lunch with their friends. Ashton was sure that Calum didn't want to be suspended again, and Luke was certain that Michael wouldn't want a black eye for the second time in a month.

Mr Youngson could feel the anger radiating off both boys when he walked into the classroom that detention was held in. He had never seen so much hatred in someone's eyes before that point. He swallowed nervously, knowing that what he was about to tell them was not going to improve their moods.

"Alright boys, as it is your last detention, you've been set a 'special' task." He said, standing at the front of the room. "It's a team building exercise and you're going to have to work together."

"Fuck that." Michael scoffed. "There is no way I'm working with him."

"And I'm not working with him either." Calum retorted, shooting Michael a glare.

"Alright, alright. I know you two aren't the best of friends.." Mr Youngson began.

"You can say that again," Michael muttered.

"...but this task is designed to help you settle you differences and at least cooperate with each other."

"I am not working with that closeted Asian!"

"Like I'd want to work with a fucking skunk," Calum replied, gesturing towards Michael's newly dyed black and white hair.

"Enough!" Mr Youngson shouted. "Calum, watch your language, and both of you shush. You're doing the task whether you like it or not, so deal with it like the mature young adults that you are."

Calum snorted, earning a glare from the teacher and Michael.

"What exactly do we have to do sir?" Michael asked, swinging forward on his seat.

"Well, hidden around the room are four coloured cubes. What you have to do is get all of them back to me, however, one of you will have to guide the other. As we can't blindfold you, whoever's guiding you will be covering your eyes."

"No." Calum exclaimed, shaking his head vigorously. "There is no way in hell I'm doing that."

"You really don't have a choice Calum. You two need to settle your differences because your behaviour towards each other is getting out of hand." Mr Youngson said sternly. "Michael, you will be guiding Calum around the room."

"Fuck," Calum muttered.
----------------------------------------------

"Go left a bit." Michael instructed. "That's your right you dumb ass. You're a bloody football player, you should know this."

"Last time you said go left I walked into a flipping table, excuse me for not trusting your guidance." Calum retorted, stepping to the left.

"That wasn't my fault, you went too far left."

"I can't exactly see where I'm going can I? You're supposed to tell me when to stop."

"Boys, concentrate." Mr Youngson said, holding his head in his hand. So far, Michael and Calum had done nothing but bicker. They had only managed to hand one cube to him and he was beginning to lose hope.

"Right, reach forward. The cube is literally right in front of you." Michael told Calum, who grabbed wildly at the air in front of him.

"Oh for gods sake. Take your left hand and grab straight in front of you."

"This is stupid." Calum muttered, finally grabbing hold of the purple object. "I'd rather sit in silence."

"I don't know Calum. I like being this close to you."

"I hate you." Calum hissed, walking into another desk.

"Glad to hear it buddy."

"I'm not your buddy." Calum growled.

"You also say you're not Asian so I'm not going to trust anything to say," Michael replied, guiding Calum towards the desk at the front of the room. It took lot of willpower for Calum to not turn round and smack Michael in the face.

"Right, Calum you're guiding Michael now, and try and stop the bickering, you're driving me nuts."

Michael took his hands away from Calum's eyes. Both of them took a couple of glances around the room, trying to spot the cubes before Calum placed his hands over Michael's eyes.

"Walk forward."

"You know, I like the demanding tone in your voice," Michael smirked, taking a couple of steps forward. "It's sexy."

"I'll make you walk into a fucking wall if you don't shut up," Calum growled, kicking the back of Michael's shins.

"Language Calum!" Mr Youngson growled. Calum bite his tongue to stop him from retorting angrily, and pushed Michael forwards towards the cube sitting on the shelf at the back of the classroom.

"You're supposed to direct me, not push me." Michael snapped, trying to elbow Calum.

"Uh uh uh," Calum smirked, grabbing Michael's elbow. "Violence is not the answer Clifford."

"You could take your own advice now and again, then you wouldn't get grounded by your mother," Michael replied, wrenching his elbow out of Calum's grip.

"Boys!"
----------------------------------------------

"Take one more step forward and then we're done," Calum muttered to Michael. Michael took a small step forward, hardly moving forward at all, smirking as he did so.

"I swear to god Michael," Calum growled, shoving him forward again. Mr Youngson held his hand out and Michael dropped the cube into it. Calum sighed in relief and removed his hands, moving away from Michael as quickly as possible.

"Well done boys. You are free to go now. I don't want to see either of you in here again." Mr Youngson said sternly. "At least not for fighting."

Calum and Michael nodded and hurried out of the room, before heading in opposite directions, desperate to get as far away from each other as possible while they still could. Mr Youngson remained at his desk, with his head in his hands, sighing.

"That didn't go as well as I thought it would."

I'm sorry this is late. I was having a HP marathon last night.

Edit 2019: I've re read this myself and I realise that I may have gone overboard with the Calum's not Asian joke. It begins to get annoying by this chapter but 14 year old me thought it was funny. Now I'm older I can see that it is used too frequently, so I apologise.
