The students at NorWest were not surprised when news of the latest fight spread around the school. Michael Clifford and Calum Hood were always fighting, verbally and physically. The boys never had a nice word to say to each other and tended to insult the other apon every meeting. Almost everyday one of them got punched by the other, sometimes leading to a fight, but most of the time leading to a lot of tension and a detention.

Calum and Michael sat at opposite sides of the waiting area outside the principals office, glaring at each other with a look of loathing. Michael's lip was bleeding and his around his eye was beginning to bruise. Calum had a bloody nose and a cut next to his left eye, where Michael's ring had cut him. They had been in this situation before, and knew that they were in deep trouble.

"In." The principal said, pointing at the door. Both boys stood up and entered the office, keeping their heads down. The principal slammed the door behind them as they took a seat in front of his desk, moving the chairs away from each other.

"What did I say the last time you two boys were in?" He demanded, glaring at the two teens in front of him. Neither answered, instead shifting awkwardly in their seats.

"Answer the goddamn question boys."

"That we would be suspended if we ended up here again," Calum said to his knees. Principal Matthews sat back in his seat, scowling.

"Yes I did, and look where we've ended up. You two really need to stop fighting. If you can't resolve your differences, grow up and ignore each other. It's not difficult. You are behaving like children, not 17 year old boys who are in their final year at high school."

"You, Hood, I thought you would be more mature. You are on the school team aren't you?"

"Yes Principal Matthews." He muttered, not raising his head to look at the principal.

"And you know what happens to your place if you get suspended?"

"Yes, Principal Matthews."

"I am suspending both of you for two weeks, and Mr Hood, you will be losing your place on the school team for at least 6 months, and unless your behaviour does not improve, you will be off the team completely. Do you understand?"

"Yes sir."

"During your suspension you are not allowed within the school grounds, and after you return two weeks from today, you will be serving a detention every night for a week. Am I understood?"

"Yes Principal Matthews."

"I will be phoning both of your parents to tell them what has happened. Your suspension starts once I have made those phone calls. Sit in the waiting area until I have done so."

They left silently, biting the inside of their cheeks to stop themselves form making a snide comment within earshot of the principal.

"This is all your fault." Calum spat as soon as they were out of earshot.

"My fault!" Michael scoffed. "You threw the first punch."

"You were provoking me!"

"I was not."

"Yes you were!"

"How was me talking to my friends about my sexuality provoking you?"

"Because you know my mum is not very accepting and you were rubbing it in that you could come out to your mum no problem."

"Not everything is about you Calum."

"You were looking me straight in the eye," Calum snapped. "It was intentional." Michael smirked.

"Maybe I just like the way your eyes darken when you get mad." He said, winking at him. Calum clenched his fists by his sides, fighting against the urge to smack the stupid smirk off of face.

"I hate you Michael Clifford."

"Glad to hear it."

They sat down at opposite ends of the waiting area again, this time staring at anything but each other. Calum's jaw was clenched shut, as he glared at a motivational poster on the wall. He hated Michael, and now he was off the team because of the boy. Football was the only thing he actually enjoyed at school.

The principal came back out for them, and gave them their official letters of suspension.

"You are free to go boys." He said as the bell went to signify the beginning of the last period of the day. "And let's not get to this situation again."

"We won't sir,"Michael said, flashing Principal Matthews a charming smile. Calum rolled his eyes and headed off down the corridor, ready to relax for two completely Michael free weeks.
