"You can't skip Maths again Calum." Ashton said sternly, raising an eyebrow at his best friend. "You'll fail."
"I don't care." Calum mumbled angrily, scuffing his feet along the corridor.
"Yes, you do. You need to pass Maths, for everything."
"I can't go to Maths Ash, he's in there! And I have to sit next to him."
"Calum, he's in History too but you don't skip that."
"He sits at the other side of the room now, and Luke's there to distract him." Calum argued, stopping outside the Maths classroom.
"Just come into Maths, please."
"Fine. But it's not my fault if anything goes wrong." Calum grumbled, crossing his arms. Ashton rolled his eyes at him and shoved him into their classroom. Calum threw himself down in his old seat, raising his eyebrow challengingly at Ashton.
"For fucks sake Calum."Ashton muttered as he sat down.
"I'm in Maths amn't I?"
Ashton rolled his eyes again but didn't say anything. He knew that Calum wasn't going to give in and it was too early to argue with him. Michael walked into the classroom and spotted Calum sitting in his old seat. He frowned and sighed, casting a sad glance in Calum's direction before heading over to his own seat.
"Calum Hood, you no longer sit there. Go sit in your assigned seat or I will put you in detention." Miss Peters, their Maths teacher said sternly.
"I'm not sitting next to Clifford." Calum replied stubbornly, glaring at Michael out of the corner of his eye. The class sat quietly with anxious looks on their faces, waiting for him to kick off.
"Calum, I'm going to give you one last chance to move."
"Are you deaf? I'm not sitting next to Michael Clifford, okay?" Ashton face palmed, fighting the urge to scream at his best friend's tone and stubbornness.
"You've just earned yourself a detention Mr Hood. Tomorrow after school, I'm sure you know the drill by now." Miss Peters told him. "And if I hear a single word from you this period I will force you to move back over next to Michael, am I clear?"
"Crystal." Calum replied in a bored voice. Miss Peters raised her eyebrow and went over to her desk to begin the lesson.
---------------------------------------------"You are going to be the fucking death of me Calum." Ashton exclaimed angrily as they walked out of Maths. "You and your fucking stubbornness."
"Oh, I'm sorry that I don't want to sit next to the person who told the entire fucking school about my Dad." Calum snapped back sassily. "Excuse me for being so out of order."
"He's not worth getting a detention over Calum." Ashton replied gently, his expression softening. "He's caused you enough trouble this year as it is."
"You didn't hate him for that at the time did you? No, that was all my fault." Calum grumbled.
"He was my friend. And I never said it was all your fault." Ashton retorted defensively.
"You might as well have."
"Calum, I get that you're angry at the moment but that doesn't mean you have to take it out on me. I'm one of the only people who isn't hating on you right now!" Ashton told him angrily, stopping in the middle of the corridor to face him.
"Would you rather I took my anger out on Michael then? Get in a couple of good punches, maybe get suspended again, is that what you want me to do?"
"Calum, you are twisting my words. All I want is for you to stay out of trouble."
"I'm trying Ashton." Calum mumbled in reply. "It's difficult when every where I go people are whispering and staring like I can't see them. It makes me angry Ash. Angry at myself for telling him, angry at him for exposing it, angry at them for judging me." Calum's eyes brimmed with tears but he quickly wiped them away, hoping that nobody saw him.
"Look, I'm sorry Cal. I know you're not being difficult on purpose and I shouldn't have gotten so mad at you."
"It's okay Ash. I'm sorry for being such a grumpy bitch recently."
"We better get to class." Ashton said after a few seconds of silence, attempting to break the tension between them.
"Yeah, I guess you're right." Calum sighed and followed him to the stairs. "I still like him you know."
"You mean your crush hasn't faded."
"Unfortunately." Calum muttered. "It sucks Ashton. I can't even look at him without my heart pounding and then I remember what he's done and I want to punch him but I want to kiss him at the same fucking time. He's an asshole but he's a ridiculously attractive one and I can't get him out of my head. Fucking dickhead!"
"It's not his fault you like him." Ashton chuckled.
"Yes it is." Calum replied irritably. "Making suggestive comments and having that fucking stupid smirk and the prettiest fucking eyes. Fuck him."
"It's seems like you'd like to." Ashton smirked. Calum shoved him only making him laugh harder.
"Shouldn't you two be in class?" A teacher said, passing them in the stairs.
"That's where we're going." Calum replied sassily, earning a glare from both the teacher and Ashton.
"Well hurry up!" She said irritably and rushed off. Calum and Ashton raised their eyebrows at each other before laughing and heading to their respective classes.
Slightly shorter update chapter I'm sorry.
