Calum hadn't enjoyed being suspended as much as he had hoped he would. His mother had hidden his Xbox controller, taken his phone and his laptop for the entire two weeks and not let him sleep in at any point. After being bored out of his mind for two weeks, Calum was almost glad to go back.
He wasn't looking forward to seeing Ashton though. The two hadn't spoken since their argument over the phone and Calum wasn't sure what Ashton was going to do when he sat down next to him in their first class of the day. He also wasn't looking forward to having a detention every night for a week with Michael. From what Calum had heard from his mother and Karen's conversations over the phone, Michael had had a much better two weeks than he had.
"Oi Hood, have a nice two weeks off school?" Michael's obnoxiously loud voice echoed along the corridor. "I ought to thank you buddy, I have not had that much sleep in years."
"First of all I am not your buddy Clifford. Second of all, no I did not, because unlike some people, I actually had consequences for my actions," Calum muttered bitterly, turning round to face the red head.
"Were you grounded? Oh my god, you were grounded. This is great," Michael laughed, earning a glare from Calum. "You actually took a grounding from your mum. What are you 10?"
"If you don't shut up and leave me along in the next 5 seconds Clifford, I will not hestitate to burst your lip again." Calum growled, clenching his fist.
"Have I ever told you how hot you are when you're mad?" Michael smirked, stepping closer to Calum.
"I'm warning you Michael," Calum said through gritted teeth.
"You wouldn't dare," Michael went on, "What would Joy say if you got suspended again?"
"You have 5 seconds to get out of my sight Clifford, before I wipe that stupid smirk off your face."
"Whatever you say Hood," Michael said, curtseying before walking away with his mates, laughing hysterically. Calum glared at him until he turned the corner out of sight. He hated him, he really did. Everything he did made Calum want to punch every inch of him. Muttering furiously to himself, Calum slammed his locker shut and stormed along the corridor, to his first class of the day, Maths.
"What's wrong with you?" Ashton asked when Calum threw himself down the seat next to him.
"What do you think?" Calum snapped, pulling his textbook out of his bag.
"Woah, Calm down bro."
"Calm down, calm down. Don't tell me to calm down," Calum said. "You haven't spoken to me in two weeks and the first thing you say is calm down."
"Calum..."
"I get back from being suspended and the first thing that happens is I get provoked by the same dude I beat up to get suspended, and you expect me to be calm?"
"Calum, stop. Just breathe."
"Just breathe, oh my god. This just keeps getting better doesn't it?Just breathe he says."
"Well, I was going to apologise for being such a dick on the phone, but I think you've evened the score," Ashton said sulkily, " sorry for trying to help."
Calum and Ashton stared at each other for a few seconds before Calum broke the silence.
"Sorry Ash, I didn't mean to snap at you, it's just I met Michael in the corridor and he was driving me nuts as usual and you haven't spoken to me in two weeks," he explained quickly, barely stopping for breath.
"I'm sorry too Calum, I shouldn't have reacted the way I did on the phone. I know you're not the violent type and I know how much Michael annoys you, I was an idiot to overreact so much." Ashton said, holding his hand out to Calum. "Friends?"
