Chapter 34 - It's All For Procedure

Perrie's POV:

I am awoken by a searing pain that shoots rapidly through my forehead.

I place my hand on my head and grip onto it hard, as if my hand will miraculously heal my pain.

I remember yesterday clearly, but I don't remember ending up at the hospital, which I imagine means I passed out at some point that evening.

Even though I'm wide awake, I feel very light headed, and part of me wishes I could fall back asleep. However, I need to know what's happened since yesterday.

" Perrie..." Mumbles Luke calmly, turning on his bed to face me.

" One of them didn't make it" Says Luke, sounding completely broken.

At first I have no idea what he means, but then I realise that one of our friends won't be coming back alive.

My heart breaks inside, and tears start to fall from my tired eyes.

" Who.....?" I ask quietly, not as if finding out will make a difference, but just provide me with closure at least.

Luke shakes his head and sits up so we can have a proper conversation.
" I don't know. The doctor didn't tell me who"

The words flooding from Luke's mouth make me angry. Angry the fact one of my friends are dead, but also at the fact they won't tell us who.

" I'm sorry Perrie....I didn't want to drop this on you, but then I couldn't not tell you" Sighs Luke, hanging his head in despair.

I nod my head in response,
" Don't worry..... thanks for letting me know"

Part of me feels insensitive for not being in floods of tears. I don't know whether it's the shock, or the fact I have no tears left to cry.

" We tried our hardest you know Perrie....we walked for days" Says Luke reaching his arm over my bed and placing his hand on mine supportively.

I shake my head,
" That doesn't matter now. One of our friends are dead....and they're never coming back"

Luke nods his head and pulls away from me, before slumping back into his original position.

" It'll hurt Perrie.....but I promise we'll make it through...." Luke adds sniffling quietly, as if he's about to cry again.

I believe Luke. Pain doesn't last forever. On the other hand, the heartache I'm currently feeling makes that theory sound completely impossible.

" I'm going to have a walk" I say calmly.

" No Perrie. The doctor hasn't spoken to you yet, and look. There's a wire in your arm" Protests Luke, who attempts to prevent me from leaving.

For a moment I'm confused by what he means, but then as I peer at my arm, it seems I've been connected to some form of drip.

" I think they connected it to you because of the whole exhaustion thing" Adds Luke quietly.

That doesn't surprise me. After the whole 4 day hike ordeal in the blazing heat and a painful lack of food and water it makes sense that I'm connected to a drip.

Michael's POV:

When we finally arrive at the hospital we basically enter the most hectic scene imaginable.

Somehow paparazzi have managed to find out where we've been taken to and are already waiting for us outside of the hospital.

" I can't do this. Not now" Squeaks Jade, her eyes bloodshot from the tears.

I place a supporting hand on her shoulder,
" It'll be fine Jade. Stay close and we'll get in there as quick as we can"

Jade nods her head gently, and I place my hand on the car door, ready to launch out.

The moment I open the door is a complete blur. Complete strangers are screaming questions at me, and I wrap my arm tightly around Jade as we scramble through the crowd.

" Michael?! Michael?! Where's Ashton?" Shouts a photographer as the medics rush us through the door of the hospital.

That question I refuse to answer. Obviously I know the answer, but I can't bare to even think about it at this moment in time.

" Okay....follow me" Says Trevor, ushering us to a small room up the long corridor to the left.

We take a seat and instantly several more medics enter the room.

" We're going to need to take a few blood samples and run some tests. So unfortunately you will need to stay here for a few days" Says a medic placing some gloves on and rummaging through a drawer.

" If you'd like to go with one of our medics they will just check you all over individually" Says Trevor gently.

Promptly a medic approaches me, but just before I'm about to leave the room, I'm stunned by a large "thud" noise which stops me in my tracks.

" Calum!" Shouts Leigh who jumps to the floor to aid Calum, who has just passed out.

" Maria, call for back up. As for the rest of you, please get these kids checked over. They could have anything" Says Trevor quickly, not sounding panicked, but rather rushed for time.

And with that, I'm quickly pulled away into a small room, filled with several cabinets.

" Mr Clifford. I'm Dr Richard's, I'm going to have to take a blood sample from you, just to check for any problems" Says a female doctor who is currently rushing around the room pulling several things from the cupboards.

I nod my head in a agreement, but I won't lie. The last thing I want right now is a needle stabbed into my arm after weeks of fighting for my life in an RV.

I hesitantly allow the Doctor to take my arm.

" This will hurt a little Mr Clifford, but it's all for procedure, and will determine anything we need to treat"

Seconds after she warns me about the pain, I suddenly feel a sharp burning sensation in my arm as she extracts my blood.

" There" She smiles, before placing it into a plastic container.

Part of me feels relieved that it's done with, but then my heart drops as I see the clipboard she pulls out from a desk behind her.

" This is going to take a while huh?" I assume, trying to lighten the situation.

Dr Richard's looks up at me with an obvious expression and starts scribbling on the paper, before clicking her pen and placing it back down.

" Right. Let's begin"

So.....what do you think so far 😂 okay just a quick reminder. I've never been to medical school, and I know nothing about hospital. So i really don't know if they put blood samples in plastic containers😂😂
