Chapter 40 - Visiting

Ashton's POV:

" Now you're awake Ash, I've been told I have to leave, but apparently they've called Jade for you" Says my mother putting her hand on my shoulder.

" Goodnight!" I say as enthusiastically as I can as my mother leaves the room.

When I woke up, I was completely confused. Mainly because my last memory of being awake was telling Jade that I love her because I thought I was going to die.

I remember her blood curdling scream when I shut my eyes, and that's when everything turned to black.

I don't know how long I'd been unconscious for, the doctor said nearly a week, but it feels like seconds.

I look at the clock on the wall, it takes a bit of effort as I'm still fairly weak, but it reads 2:03am. God knows how Jade's been allowed to see me at this time.

" Hey mate!" Says Cal walking into my room with an ecstatic smile on his face.

" Man, you seem happy" I say with a small smirk, looking at my friend who can't contain his happiness.

" I'm just relieved you're okay. We all thought you were dead for at least a day" Says Calum, his expression suddenly changing to one of sadness.

I shake my head completely bewildered.
" Well I'm alive. So it's okay"

Calum nods his head and passes me a cup of water from the side of my bedside table.

" So. Do the others know?" Asks Calum, as he urges me to drink some water.

I take a sip from the cup and shrug,
" Jade knows. She's coming soon. I don't know about the others"

" In that case I'll head off to my room, give you and Jade some space. See you tomorrow Ash" Says Cal, taking the cup from me and then patting my arm before leaving the room.

The door shuts and the room is once again filled with the sound of silence.

It's kinda creepy if I'm honest, because my room's fairly big. Too big.

It's only now I notice the tube running through my arm. Just when my day couldn't get any weirder, I find out I'm connected to a machine.

Just when I go to shut my eyes out of sheer boredom, I hear the door go.

I open my eyes and see Jade standing before me, looking a combination of shocked and incredibly happy.

" Ashton!" She shouts, running over to my bedside and wrapping her arms around me, completely forgetting I'm connected to several machines.

" I'm so sorry I scared you....." I whisper stroking my hand through her long brown hair.

Jade pulls away suddenly,
" Sorry....I forgot you're in hospital...I didn't mean to be so heavy handed... I..I missed you so much"

" I missed you too...." I respond reaching my hand out to hers.

Tears start to fall down her face, and it's then I realise how much I must have frightened them all.

" Jade please don't cry. I'm here now. It's over" I say gently, pulling a tissue from the table beside me.

Jade's POV:

Even though Ashton is asking me not to cry, I can't help it. The tears just keep streaming down my face like a waterfall.

" You don't know what it felt like when they said you were alive. The room was so....odd" I say, remembering our reactions of when the doctor told us the news.

" I don't even want to know Jade. I just want you to know I'm not going anywhere from now on" Smiles Ash, looking up at me from his bed.

Hearing his voice reassures me that everything is going to be okay. I never thought I'd hear it again.

" I've been miserable as sin for days thinking about you, you know?" I say with a smile, thinking of how ridiculous this whole scenario is.

Ashton smirks,
" Well please don't be miserable now. Go back to the others and have a good time okay? Calum is on the mend and I won't be too long hopefully"

" I hope so. You know I'd just finished watching a Disney film when I got the call" I say laughing a little, feeling much happier now I'm in his company.

" It's magic" Winks Ashton.

If it is then it's some bloody powerful magic they've got going on here. In the space of a few days I've gone from crying tears of misery to tears of joy.

" Anyways, I bought you this from a twenty four hour gas station" I smirk, handing him a rather cheap looking "get well soon" teddy.

" Jade.... what's wrong with it's head?" Asks Ashton, pointing out the fact it's slightly lobsided.

I shrug,
" Don't ask me I didn't make it, I simply delivered it to you to ease the whole 'I've just woke from a coma' thing"

" I wasn't even in a coma" Laughs Ashton, placing the teddy on the side.

" Fine then unconscious. That better?" I say correcting myself.

Ashton nods his head and smiles contently, resting his head on his pillow.

I know I should probably leave soon, it's nearly 3am, and I imagine that he is incredibly tired.

" I'm going to head off Ashton" I say quietly, standing from the chair.

" Aw man. Why?" He questions, looking fairly disappointed.

I chuckle,
" Because it's nearly three in the morning, and you're going to need to rest up".

" Rest up? I've been unconscious for about 5 days" Laughs Ashton, as I kneel beside his bedside, resting my arms on the bed.

I shake my head with a smile disapprovingly, and plant a kiss on his forehead.

" Goodnight Ashton" I smile as I stand to leave.

" Goodnight beautiful" He responds, pulling his sheets up to his neck.

I smile, before I walk towards the door and head out.

When I get to the exit, Calum is lingering around.

" Thought I'd see you here Jade. I figured I'd say goodnight to you. Stay happy yeah?"

I nod my head,
" Yep. Just get better. We all want you weirdos back okay?"

" Understood. Night Jade"
