A child is one
who watches a scary movie
and cries
because they think it's real
and that the characters are dead.
Growing up is
when you realize that
no one's dead
and it's nothing more
than a movie,
a dramatization,
an act,
and you feel invincible
because there's no way
it could ever happen in real life.
An adult is one
who watches a scary movie
and cries
because they know that
somewhere
it might be happening,
that somewhere
it's real,
that no one's invincible
or immune,
and that
people
really
do
die.
