Chapter 15: Frazzled

Ian stepped on the gas pedal so he could reach the hospital as soon as he can. His grip on the steering wheel tightened and smacked at it when he saw that the traffic got heavier and heavier. He pushed his horn multiple times now but that didn't do anything. 

"Ian, relax." Erik tapped my arm.

I looked at the him then I glanced at Shin in the rearview mirror whos looking outside the window and I sigh.

A little voice in my head spoke "what are you doing Ian? Relax. Dont act like you're the father of her child. Hindi ikaw ang ama!"

But that's not what Im feeling. It's like my heart is raising and the things that Im witnessing now is suffocating me.

Para akong nakikipagkarerahan sa pagtakbo sa bilis ng tibok ng puso ko ng makarating kami sa ospital. I left my car open at the entrace of the hospital and grabbed shin's hand at the back seat and proceeded immediately to the information desk while Erik parked the car and immediately followed us.

"Miss, saan yung room ni Yziandrea Go?" Masinsinang tinitigan ni shin ang nurse habang tinitignan nito ang kanilang record.

"Second floor po maam room 242" agad na sagot ng nurse. Nagpasalamat naman si shin at dali dali naming hinanap yung kwarto ng bata.

Pagpihit ni shin sa door knob ng pinto ay agad na bumungad sa amin ang bata na nasa kama na muling kinukuhanan ng dugo.

The little girl looked so familliar that I need to think when and where I saw her. The scene that Im witnessing now broke my heart when shin knelt down to her child and kissed her forehead. Another tear shed from her eyes. Another faint smile she made. And that did nothing to me but to admire more this woman.

"I'm sorry baby, mommy wasnt there when you needed me. Im sorry baby." Shin spoke when the extraction is done.

Kasalungat ng nanghihinang katawan ay ngumiti ito sa ina at sinabing,

"Its okay mummy, mama is here naman eh. And Im a big girl now. Dont worry mommy Im okay." Yzian reached for her mom's face and wiped her remaining tears.

Hanggang ngayon hindi parin maiwasan ni shin maawa sa anak sa tuwing kinukuhanan siya ng dugo, sa tuwing kailangan siyang kabitan ng napakadaming aparato. Shes too young to suffer.

Ng akmang magsasalita na si shin ay bigla namang napansin ng bata ang kanyang mga bisita.

"Hi tito erik, hi tito Ian, thanks for bringing mum here safe"

Ngumiti si yzian, ngunit bakas sa dalawa ang pagkagulat lalo na si erik. Erik looked at shin and brought out the "bat-alam-ng-bata" look but then shin just nooded. Erik gazed on Ian who smiled from ear to ear.

Ian's pov

"Hi tito erik, hi tito Ian, thanks for bringing mum here safe"

Hindi ko alam pero parang biglang gumaan yung pakiramdam ko ng makita kong ngumiti ang bata saakin. Then I realized that she's the little girl I met a few weeks ago at the hallway of gma, crying. The little girl whom wants me to be her dad. The little girl that I loved even when I just met her. The sweet little princess that I never had.

Napangiti nalamang ako ng maalala ko ang mga nangyari nuong nakaraang nagkita kami. Shes beautiful. Kahit na putlang pula na siya, shes still like an angel. With her chunky chubby cheeks, her curly soft hair, her tiny lips and her chinita little eyes.
