----------------------------------------
Its been a week since Yzian came home from the hospital. Dr. Esquivel did the simple swab test on Yzian and Ian with the presence of Kat, ofcourse. We're informed then that the result will be available in three weeks time. Kat on the other hand never fails to annoy the hell out of me, she smirks and rolled her eyes on me whenever Ian came closer to us. If only my daughter wasnt in there.
In our whole stay at the hospital, Ian was always there. Playing with Yzian. But still, she knows Ian as her Tito Ian, mom's friend. Hindi ko parin sinasabi sa kanya since alam kong hindi din magtatagal tong set-up na to. And thats the hardest part. I dont know when will be the end of all these. Though Ian wants to be called dad, aba syempre hindi din papayag yung asawa niyan. She kept on insisting na hintayin daw muna yung result ng DNA test eh pano daw ba kung hindi naman daw niya anak yung bata.
Sometimes Erik and Sarah and her kids visited Yzian and Im really thankful for that kasi pag nandito sila, somehow tumitigil si Kat sa kadadada.
I talked to her attending physician and referred me to Dr. Alvarez regarding to her heart condition on our last day at the hospital.
"Ive read and reviewed your daughter's case already. I have also talked to her doctor in london but unfortunately, yung nakikita ko lang talagang solution dito is heart transplant." The doctor started as I sat on the chair infront of her desk in her office.
"You know Yzian is turning four in three weeks time. And that is the ideal age for a heart transplant. But still we couldnt find the heart that matches hers. We also have to remember that cases same as hers only aged up to 4 years old." He took off her glasses and looked uncomfortable to me.
"..... Rachelle, were running out of time" I sighed. Hindi na iba sa pandinig ko ang sinasabi ng doctor kahit paulit ulit na, I still need to find some other way. I cleared my throat and responded.
"So, doc ano pa po yung pwede nating gawin? Ive already referred to high profiled cardiologist in the states, and still, ganun padin. They cant give me a concrete assurance that my daughter will survive after the operation." I know, her case is getting worse and Im getting frustrated to make her life longer.
"Have you checked, Dr. Villegas?" She asked.
Villegas... Villegas... I remembered something about the name, but I just shrugged it off. "Familiar name, pero hindi pa po."
"Dr. Maven Villegas. I think recently lang din siyang naassign sa london. Baguhan lang siya Shin, pero andami na niyang sucessful operations. Makailang ulit na din siyang sumalang sa risky operations. At never once in the record that he had a failed operation. Now he is tagged as the best cardio surgeon that ever existed." She sighed and continued.
"But this doctor does not just recieving any appointment since he lost his wife and his child. He got so depressed and hated the world since then. Now I think he took appointments na pero paisa isa lang. Hes still not yet comfortable dealing with patients." She looked at me in the eye feeling uneasy.
"And he really hates doing operations in children. Not even the child of a President. Pero kung mapipilit mo siya, yun na yung pinakamagandang solusyon sa sakit ni yzian. At ang sabi pa nga nila, some of his patients doesnt even need a heart transplant because he can fix everything.
With yzian's case? Mas malaki pa yung chance na manalo ka sa lotto kaysa sa makahanap tayo ng perfect match for her heart." She looked straight into my eyes and held my hand that made me blind from my tears.
