After we finish our drinks we walk outside, greeted by a cold breeze, taking us by surprise. "It's cold." Evan mutters as he shivers and wraps his hands around his arms trying to warm them up. We stand there for a bit, the sudden silence makes me feel uneasy.
"What're we waiting for?" Ethan says breaking the silence. Carter leans against the brick wall, looking around.
"Nothing," Carter says standing up straight, "you guys wanna go to my place?" He says already walking down the street, not waiting for a reply.
We walk past tall buildings, some shops, some hotels, anything any ordinary town would have. Finally we reach a tall modern building, most likely filled with apartments. We walk towards the building, a red carpet leads us to the door. The door slides opens once we're a couple feet away from it and let us into the building.
The shiny marble floor is a light brown, comforting. I look up to see a desk resting near the back of the wall. A women in her late thirties greets us with a smile. "Mr. Carson," She says smiling, "good afternoon."
I see Evan shift behind me, his eyes on the lady. Carter nods and walks past the desk, we follow without hesitating.
He must be well known around here.
We reach an elevator and Carter presses the button with the arrow pointing up. We wait for the elevator. A couple seconds later the silver doors open letting us into the elevator. "I didn't know you lived in such a nice place." Ethan says.
"I know," Evan says butting in, "I thought he lived under a bridge." A laugh escapes from my mouth and all of us laugh. Even Carter.
The elevator doors slide open, a hallway appears and Carter the first to walk out of the elevator. We begin walking down the hallway, last night replaying in my head over and over again. "Here we are." Carter says stopping in front of a white door. He digs in his pockets for a few seconds and takes out a silver key.
He puts it into the doorknobs lock and slowly turns. The silver doorknob smoothly turns, and then it swings open. I feel my eyes widen a bit.
We walk in, right into the living room. A red modern couch sits in the middle of the room, a huge TV attached to the wall in front of it. The dark wood floor makes all the other colors stand out. The only source of light in this room is a lamp, although it's small it's enough to light up the whole room.
"Damn..." I hear Evan murmur under his breath.
"Well," Carter says sitting on the couch, "how about a movie?"
