I wake up, my cheeks wet with tears.

I'm here to wipe your tears away.

His voice rings in my ears. He cares.

I turn onto my side and slowly sit up. I look next to me, expecting to see Carter. Instead, I see his blanket thrown on the floor.

I stand up and slowly walk towards the hallway. I immediately stop walking once I hear his voice. "Okay, we'll be there in thirty minutes. Thank you." I hear him whisper into his phone.

I stare at the ground and suddenly freeze. "Eavesdropping again?" I hear him say, startled I look up at him and force a small smile.

"Fix your hair. We're going to the police department." He says ruffling my hair as he passes by me. I close my eyes as I remember Mason ruffling my hair every morning.

***

"So, they have him there?" I ask as I point out the window towards the police department. He nods and quickly parks.

"Please, don't cry." he whispers. I stare at him and don't respond instead I get out of the car and begin speed walking towards the entrance.

Masons somewhere in there. I need to see him.

I suddenly sprint into a run, catching peoples attention. "Ethan!" I hear Carter yell as he runs besides me. "What're you doing?!" He yells.

I keep running, tears flying off my face. I swing the doors open causing everyone to stare at me.

I frantically look for an assistant and once I find one I run towards her. "Hello? How may I-" she stops and stares at me as more and more tears run down my face.

"I-I'm looking for Mason. Mason Vulfure!" I yell and harshly wipe my tears away.

"Mason..." she whispers, thinking. " I didn't do anything wrong!" I hear a voice yell.

I immediately turn around, searching for the muffled voice.

"I told you! I'm innocent!"

Down this hall...

I quickly run down the hall until I approach the voice. I freeze.

Standing in front of me is Mason, dried blood all over the right side of his face. A police officer stands behind him, keeping his hands cuffed.

"Ethan, why did you-" Carter immediately stops in his tracks as he sees Mason.

"Oh god..." Carter whispers, shocked.

I'm speechless. Mason looks at me, ashamed.

I feel tears building up inside my eyes, why can't I ever control my emotions?

The police officers push him forward, towards me.

"Mason..." I whisper my bottom lip quivering as tears roll down my face.

His eyes skirt over mine. The same brown eyes that once made me smile, now make me want to cry.

"I'm okay." He mouths as they push him pass me.

"No!" I yell and quickly lung at the officer. But a pair of arms wrap around me, preventing me from moving.

"Carter, let go!" I yell as I sob. "Mason! Please, no! I need you!"

Mason looks over his shoulder at me, tears running down his cheeks. He sniffs and begins walking.

"Don't leave me!" I yell panting.

"Don't leave me..." I whisper finally giving up. I stare at Masons until he's out of site.

"Ethan-"

"Shut up!" I yell and harshly push him against the wall. His eyes close shut as his head hits the wall, he groans in pain and looks at me.

I stare at him as he slides down the wall, Onto the floor.

"Ethan," he chokes out.

He opens his eyes and desperately searches my eyes with his own.

"I'm here to wipe your tears away."
