Ch. 50 Reaching

Naomi's POV

I don't want to go to this school anymore... thank goodness when I called 3 Capitals Academy they immediately asked me to come in to show my chip, and once I did they set up my Audition day. Only 3 weeks away, I just need to make it through 3 more weeks. I can do this and then I can make all new friends. Maybe Sammie D would like to be my friend!

I step out of my mother's car in front of the school. "See ya mom." I said.

"Bye sweetie" she hummed.

It's been a week since the fight... both Rebecca and I were suspended. Luckily 3 capitals academy still wants me there. I walk into the building and I can feel the animosity and the stares. I can feel the pity. All of it.

"Naomi!" I hear a familiar voice. I look up to see Samantha and Gretchen.

"Don't talk to me." I said as I abruptly turned and went up the stairs without saying another word. I hate them. I can't believe they withheld that from me.

I walk up the stairs and see Zach and Kano walk by. They didn't notice me. Looks like they are back to normal as friends. I rolled my eyes and then kept walking. I had all my makeup work in my bag ready to hand in. I was not about to lose my valedictorian title. I am going to take everything away from Kano. The fastest runner, valedictorian.

I walk into the classroom right as the bell rings and the once loud and rowdy classroom fell silent as I stepped in. I could feel the stares of everyone on me.. especially Zach and Kano.

I hand all my paperwork in to the teacher. "I did all the make up work so I wouldn't fall behind." I said.

"Ah thank you Naomi.. I wouldn't expect anything less from you~" she smiled at me.

I chuckled and nodded. "I wouldn't want to be expected of any less~" I said as I turned to the class. I looked at me seat and then made straight line to it. I sat down and paid no attention to Zach or Kano who were on either side of me.

They both passed me notes. Each time I simply ignored them and brushed them away. Off my desk to the floor.

Class went by painfully slow.

As soon as it was lunch time, I gather my stuff.
"Hey na-"

"No." I said as I got up abruptly stepping on the casted notes, leaving the classroom. I don't even care who it was..

I walk down the stairs and out into the courtyard, I looked at the tree and smiling lightly at it.

This tree was where I always sat when I first came to this school. Now I'll sit here until I leave... by myself.

I sat down and started eating my lunch alone.

Zach's POV

"Hey Na-"

"No."

I watch her leave the classroom. My heart sinking. Nao I'm sorry.. I'm so sorry..

I grabbed my lunch and then left the room as well.. I went out into the hallway and looked down that's when I saw her by the tree. I look down at her for a few moments and sigh.

Man.. I remember when she wasn't fully my friend and didn't know Kano. Those memories will never fade to me. Nao please let me make this up to you.

I take a deep Breathe. I'm gonna go sit with her.

I let out my breathe and make a b-line to the courtyard. Multiple people try to stop me but I brush them aside. I'm having lunch with Nao.

I walk out the door and am in the shadows when I hear her laughing. I stop and look at her still not visible to her.

"come on... that didn't happen!"

She giggled.

"No! Haha.."

She looks so happy.

Who is she talking to...

"Sa- haha Samuel!" She exclaimed laughing.

Samuel? Oh... that's right...

I picture of the guy comes to mind.

Sammie D. Her idol, but also her childhood friend who is head over heels for her, that she doesn't remember.

I decide to walk into the light and she still keeps going along talking on the phone.

My courage slowly dwindling down to barely anything.

"Naomi can I sit with you?" I mutter looking at her.

She stops talking on the phone. "What did I tell you a week ago Zachary." She said coldly. "Samuel I have to go I'll talk to you later." She said.

"Mhm alrighty bye bye." She said with a giggle.

"I still want to be your frien-"

"I don't want you as mine." She cut me off.

"Nao just let me explain," I said basically pleading.

"..... you have 30 seconds." She said.

"Uh!!! I um..." I took a deep. Breathe to calm myself and then let it all out. "Naomi I am in love with you., and I have been since I met you, I didn't tell you about what was going on with Kano because I didn't want to see you with a broken heart but I see know that all I did was hurt you in the end anyway... please Nao... please just let me be you friend again... please." I said as I looked at her begging. "If I could go back I wou-"

"30 seconds are up." She cut me off.

I looked at her with the begging look... what is she gonna say to that.. come on please just let me be her friend again.

"I don't want you sitting with me." She said.

My heart shattered.

"But I will unblock you on my phone." She said as she pulled out her phone.

So that why she hasn't responded to my texts and why my phone calls keep getting bounced.

"Go sit somewhere else." She said as she took a bite of her sandwich.

"One step at a time I guess." I said looking at her with a small smile.

"Huh?" She huffed.

"Nothing... I'll catch you later." I said.

I then turned and left the courtyard leaving Naomi alone. All I gotta do is just keep reaching... maybe I can gain her trust again..

I slowly walk up the stairs to the cafeteria, I join Jacob and then rest of them for lunch.. and then continue on with my day. Naomi was a little bit warmer to me but not very much.. it still felt like I was shut into a freezer, but it was no where near how cold she treated Kano.

There is a little hope we can be friends again. Just a little.
