Chapter 18- Occulumency
I stepped in Albus’s office.
“What is it that we’ll be learning?”
My summer as usual was very uneventful. I was glad to be back.
“Hello Lyra. In your situation I think it would be wise to teach you the skill of Occulumency. It teaches you how to protect your mind from unwanted presence.”
I smiled. Okay. I can do that. Don’t know why I need to know how but I will.
“When will we start?”
“Well that’s not up to me.”
“Oh? Why not?”
He smiled.
“I’m not your teacher.”
I felt stunned.
“Who will be then?”
“I will.”
I felt my dread fill me. No. I recognized the soft velvety voice as Snape’s.
“Why does he have to teach me?”
“He is far more skilled with the power of Occulumency than I. And it has its purposes…”
I sighed and stepped out of the office. Snape followed me.
“I didn’t beg for the job I assure you.”
“Go away.”
“Actually I can’t. I have to attempt to teach you. I’m sure it is a futile attempt, with a mind as simple as yours I am near positive you will not be capable of mastering such a complicated and difficult art.”
“Fuck off.”
He took my hand and pulled me to his office. I didn’t even bother to struggle. Well this will be fun.
