Imagine Kol actually being sincere instead of cocky and arrogant
Kol was always sarcastic, cocky, arrogant and completely annoying. When you first met him you had a crush on him but once you found out what kind of person he was, it made you like him even more. Then you started hanging out with him much more than you'd like and he became annoying and your little crush for him started to dwindle away. It's harder to get rid of a crush then to get one and you were realizing it but Kol was also realizing that the thing you and he had was dieing down to nothing.
Kol hadn't always loved you. He found that you and him butt heads often but to him, it became cute so the more he squabbled with you, the more close he felt with you. He found that you don't enjoy his personality and he was panicking. Yes, Kol Mikaelson was panicking because of you. He loved you and he didn't know how to show you or how to say it.
You had walked into the Mikaelson house after a long day and you were exhausted. You looked terrible and you felt terrible but just to make it worse, Kol rounds the corner. You wait for his nasty comment about the way you look but instead he smiled sweetly and said to you,
"You look lovely today, Y/N."
You were shocked, no doubt, but it made you smile... and blush. You hurried away to your room since, the Mikaelson's let you live with them. You threw your bag and jacket on the floor and plopped down on the bed. Not long after, you hear a faint knock on the door,
"Come in!"
You yell out and in comes Kol,
"You look tired, can I get you anything?"
He was acting really, sweet. You were confused and your face showed it but you smiled and said,
"Hot apple cider please."
He smiled and nodded, whisking away to fetch you your drink. Not long after, he came with a mug containing your steaming drink,
"Why are you being so nice to me?"
Kol turns,
"What're you talking about?"
You scoff,
"I mean like you're usually making some nasty comment about me, not telling me I look lovely or getting me a drink. Are you sick or something?"
He laughs,
"No Y/N, I assure you I'm not sick."
He sits down beside you and looks down at his feet,
"I'm not really good at this kind of thing but,"
You scooch in closer to him and he looks you in the eye,
"I love you Y/N and from the first time I saw you I didn't know how to tell you. I thought that teasing you made us closer but I was actually pulling us apart. I, I love you."
You smile and kiss him sweetly before pulling away,
"I love you too Kol. More than you know."
