like a scene from an old movie
I stand in the street
staring up at your apartment window
hoping to get a glimpse of you
the glow of a single streetlight upon me
perhaps you will look out
see me
emails
sit, unread in my inbox
your voice mail
filled, ignored
text messages
floating in space
dead air
technology failed
so here I stand
like a scene from an old movie
I light a cigarette
a red glow against my face
I see a silhouette
pass the closed curtains
there may be a chance yet
curtain opens slightly
I see you
standing at the window
looking outside
I stare up at you
a slight wave
a sad smile
you raise
your hand
a wave?
like a scene from an old movie
I stand in the street
staring up at your apartment window
you push your hair back from your face
you close your curtains
it begins to rain
