looking out my living room window
i sometimes find it hard to believe
all the shit that goes on in the world
my little slice of paradise
is so calm and peaceful
shining like a shimmering pearl
i stand in my beautiful house
warm, safe and comfortable
no real issues at hand
it hurts me to think of those
who are not the same
in some far off distant lands
i drink my morning coffee
and heave a reflective sigh
appreciative of all i have around me
if only all could feel
what I feel right now
to be happy, healthy, safe and free
