- Brooke's POV -

I opened my eyes slowly and was met with darkness. I tried to sit up, but pain shot through my body and I let out a tired groan. Someone's hands gently pushed me back onto the bed. " Rest. " Jack's voice broke the tense silence. " How long have you been there? " I asked tiredly. It was silent for a few moments before Jack spoke up again. " Two days. " my eye's widened in shock and I shifted my gaze to Jack's dark figure. " I've been out for two days? " I questioned. " Yeah. " Jack replied. I tried to sit up again and Jack put his hands back on my shoulders. " I want a shower. " Jack took his hands off me and helped me up. " Is this my room? " I asked. " No. It's my room. " Jack answered me. I felt a little awkward being in his room. " I didn't want anything else to happen to you. " Jack helped me out of bed and I stumbled over to his bedroom door, Jack followed not far behind.

We made it to my room. I was about to go in, but Jack stopped me. " I'll be out here. " I smiled at Jack and made my way into my room. I was still in the hospital gown.

I went into my bathroom and looked at myself in the mirror, dry blood was on my face, a bruise on my cheek, and my hair was a mess. Remembering the bandage on my wrist, I looked down at it and slowly removed it. I starred down at my now unbandaged wrist and felt a wave of sadness wash over me. The number twenty -three forty - four was branded into my wrist. I sighed to myself and turned on the water. I got undressed and stepped into the shower. The warm water felt great, easing all my sore muscles and cleaning all the grime off.

- Time Skip -

I was about to turn the water off, but I tripped over my foot and slipped. I hit the ground with a loud, painful thud.

Not wasting any time, Jack knocked on the bathroom door. " You okay? " Jack asked through the door, concern trying not to make itself known in his voice. " Yeah, just fell and having trouble getting up. " I said as I tried to push myself up using my knee, but the pain was to much and I laid back down.

I heard the door creek open and shut. Jack's grey hand came through the shower curtain. " What are you doing?! " I gasped. " You can't get up. " Jack said bluntly. I sighed and tried to reach for Jack's hand, but it was no use, I couldn't reach. " I can't reach... " I said akwardly. Jack turned the water off an opened the shower curtain. I curled up on the ground as best I could to cover myself. " Can you at least get my towel?! " I squealed in annoyance. " Brooke, I can't see. " Jack gestured to his mask. " And I'm acquainted with the female body. " Jack stuck his hand out again. I hesitantly grabbed Jack's hand and he pulled me up with little to no effort. I stumbled onto my feet, Jack handed me my towel and left. I wrapped the towel around my body and limped out of the bathroom and into my bed room. I slipped on a grey long sleeve shirt and black sweat pants. I went to leave my room, but caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror. Stumbling over to the mirror, I leaned in close. A large bruise was on my cheek and there were big bags under my eyes. As I continued to stare at the bruise, hot tears pricked my eyes and I tried to blink them back, but couldn't. I looked down at the floor and wiped my tears with my sleeve. I lifted my head to look in the mirror again and saw Jack standing behind me. Jack put his hand on my shoulder and I turned around to face him. Jack took his hand off my shoulder and I ran in for a hug. Jack's body tensed up and it took a while before he put one of his arms around me.

I sniffled and pulled away from Jack's body. Jack looked down at me and I looked back. " Sorry... " I wiped my eyes one last time. " Sorry for what? " Jack spoke up. " Crying. " Jack stared at me in silence. He stuck his hand out and brushed some hair out of my face before turning around and walking out of my room.

I don't understand him.

Max's comment startled me and I jumped a little. " Neither do I, Max... he intrigues me. "
