The both kids had waited, didn't even sleep. They never thought of that. When she knew it was already the time, she got up. Grinned by herself as she put down her legs, and wore her shoes. She was standing in front of the door, took a deep breath before holding and turning the doorknob. She went out of the room, but she was caught, and someone else was there.
Awake.
Jake was sitting down in the living room watching something. "Family guy." She whispered, it was so quiet he couldn't possibly hear it. She tiptoed, the most silent thing. Though her father was facing the opposite side, and he couldn't see her. And that made her feeling a bit relieved. She was half-near the door, when he finally spoke. "Where are you going, Cassandra?"
"I'm going to the comfort room. I'm gonna pee, daddy." She said, stood straight. "Then, why are you taking that route?" He now looked at her, twisted his head. "I'm hiding from you." She'd said, tucking her hands in her pocket. "Hiding from me? Come on here, let's watch cartoons." He gestured his head. She was thinking, there were two options: she could sit with him and wait for him to fall asleep, since his eyes were sleepy, or just go to the comfort room and take an escape.
She knew they wouldn't allow her to go out, they'd never. Because they would never know what's gonna happen, whether bad or good. And she knew that, really do. "I'm going to pee, daddy." She told him, chose the second option. Jake smiled at him, as if he knew something Cassandra didn't know. "Come here," he gestured his head. Cassandra sat with him, she got no more choice. "I know where you're going, sweetheart. I just read your mind. Don't you think I know?" He still smiled. She shook her head shakily, scared what would happen next now that Jake had caught her plan. His sleepy eyes faded. "I'm not going to be mad, of course, unless you disobey your father, am I right?"
She nodded.
"Now, I'm giving you a chance. You can meet up with Andy there outside and see what you wanna see. But, please, please. Don't go too far from the house. You know I don't want anything bad to happen to the both of you." His face was begging her.
Cassandra began to grin, and pulled Jake into a hug. "Thanks, dad." She whispered. "You're the best dad in the world." She added, sincerity was in her words. She really felt happy, and much appreciated it. Finally, he could understand how she felt.
"You got the words." He said funnily. "Now, go. Your best friend's waiting for you." He told her, and let go of the hug. She stood, was now near the door. "Remember what I told you. Don't go too far from the house. I'll be watching you, guys."
"Yes, da." Then she opened the door, and went out. Andy was there, looking directly at the door of the house. "You really are waiting for me." She told him. "Yeah, I didn't do what you did yet. I should wait for you." He answered. "Anyway, what took you so long?"
"I was caught." She looked at him. "By whom?" He was shocked, raising both is eyebrows with his eyes widened. "My dad. But, don't worry. We're lucky tonight." She smirked after she took a quick glance at the window of the house. "How?"
"Well, he just basically gave us a chance." She shrugged her shoulders. "So, does that mean he won't allow this again next time we'll meet this kind of late?" He asked, and it was possible. "I don't know. I hope not." She said. "Yeah. Me too."
"Well, let's go back. I'll teach you how to see the galaxy. If it's still there."
"Do you think it disappeared now?" He asked as he followed Cassandra gaze at the sky. "What do you think?" She asked, her eyes going around the sky. "Well, no." He shook his head. "Deepen your sight. Like, what us, vampires, do. Then, focus."
"That's all?" He looked at her by the corner of his eye. "That's all. Just focus, Andy." She instructed. After she spoke, the two of them went silent. Just gazed at the sky, narrowed both eyes as they focused. It was just easy to do it, examining the night sky. And the sky was the same as what she had seen yesterday night, stars scattered around the clear sky just like the other night.
She grinned when she saw the galaxy, but it was obviously different, compared to the one she saw the other night. "I can see it!" Andy exclaimed. "This is incredible, Cassandra." His words full of joy and awe. "You can't believe it." She whispered, was barely heard. They watched, and observed on how it was possible. The whirling of stars going through the center hole.
But their necks were aching, they were tired. And they quitted. "I hope you liked what I showed you." Cassandra smiled as she looked at him. "I liked it, Cass." He nodded. "It's because I know we have the same interests and personality, almost."
"We're both curious to the world, aren't we?"
"Right." She beamed. "We shall go now for the sun's about to rise." Andy said when he looked quickly at the sky. "Soon." She murmured. They've said their goodbyes, the two splitting up, took different ways and routes. She entered the house, she saw that her father was still there. But, when she took a peek, Jake was laying down, eyes were closed.
