=Flashback=

It was still early and students were strolling into their classes.

"Hey, Harley. What's up?" Zen was wearing a smart casual black and white wear. He never failed to look good. Even I can't stop myself from staring. The girls were ogling at him until he walked towards me. They started scorning.

It was as if the girls wanted to dig my eyes out. I shot back with a look of disgust, they freaked out and turned away.

"Hey, Zen. I just saw my crush hanging out with the girl I dislike. They were having quite an enjoyable time chatting and laughing. What did he saw in her? I really wonder."

"Well, love is blind and mysterious. One can fall for the looks and a few days later, he or she found flaws on their faces. And the love died."

"That's normal."

"One can criticise the looks on a person's face but after a few talks with them, they fall for the character and personality instead."

"Oh really? Such things happen huh?" I sarcastically replied while rolling my eyes at him.

"You don't believe me? I know a guy who first fell for the girl's look. After he finally managed to get her attention, he realised she was more than beautiful. She is caring, gentle, loving, funny and most importantly, friendly. He tried all sorts of ways to get her to look at him. He even built up his body on the thoughts of protecting her. He never gave up and he still hasn't."

Convincing. "Sounds like something you would do. Won't you, Prince Zen?"

"It is something I will do. I'm just waiting for my girl to look my way."

=End of Flashback=

I looked at Zen who was now crying in front of me. All these while, since the time I knew him, he had been constantly giving me hints but he knew not to rush.

I loved many but he loved only one. Somehow, I felt guilty. I made him wait so long and my family just casually mocked at him. The amount of stress a person can take is just that small, especially when love is involved.

I went forward and pulled Zen into a hug. "I'm sorry, Zen."

Immediately, he stopped crying and lightly pushed me away to look at me. His eyes were swollen though he barely cried for ten minutes.

"No. No, Harley. Why are you apologising to me? Please, don't. I'm more afraid of you saying that. And you've done nothing wrong." His tears were starting to form again.

I reached out to him and wiped them away. "I was apologising on behalf of my family. Those things that they said just now were horrible. You don't deserve to hear those."

He took my hand and kissed the palm of it. I jumped a little from the sudden action, involuntarily retracted my hand. Zen looked up at me, his expression indescribable.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to pull my hand away."

He was clearly sceptical about my action. "It's okay. I have to get used to keeping a distance away from you." There it was again, the smile with no emotion in it.

"No, Zen. That was not what I meant. I was just surprised by the sudden action."

"You don't have to explain. I understand that you have to start acting like a good daughter-in-law." He stood up and brushed his pants clean. "I will leave now. See you around." And he left without waiting for my response.

Something was not right but I will let him be for now. I got another matter at hand for the moment.
