Clark POV
"Mum and dad, what brings you guys here so early? I'm sure Harley's fiancé won't be here this early to entertain you before dinner." I smiled with sincerity.
My parents are nice people. But you may wonder why I talk to them with sarcasm. The thing is, every single thing they do, has a motive. Be it advantageous or not, they will do it. I'm sure Harley has realised this too, that her engagement is no more than a business deal.
My mother shot me a strict look. She knew I am willing to do anything to protect my little sister, ever since I took the punishment of starving for her when she lost my mother's nine hundred and fifty thousand dollars necklace. My father gave a rather constipated smile instead.
She came over to me, touching my face. "Clark, my son. Don't you look charming as always? Right, honey?" My father wasn't even listening. He just smiled ear to ear, most probably just to entertain her. He walked past my mother, towards me.
He placed a hard grip on my shoulder. "It's nice to see you all good and healthy, son. A few business lessons will be suitable for you, don't you think?"
He grinned at me. The usual sarcasm exchanging session. He knew I will not reply to his sarcasm so he continued, "Anyway, we're here early to talk to you two before the arrival of the in-laws. Where is our dear Harley?"
In-laws. She's not even married yet.
"She's upstairs with Zen."
My mother turned her head almost instantly as if she could break it with just a bit more stress on her neck bone. "Zen is here?"
I rolled my eyes at her. "Yes, I just told you that." She just kept blinking at me with wide shocking eyes.
"This will be difficult..." My mother started pacing around the living room, seriously thinking hard. Walking left and right, suddenly she turned back to face me. "But all the better. We shall invite him for dinner. I'll go up and-"
"Mum. It's okay. I'll go and get them down for you later. Leave the minor things like these, to me. I got a question to ask you." My father already made himself comfortable at the dining table, sipping wine. "How did this arranged marriage came about?"
She fidgeted and looked like she was actually finding an excuse before replying me. Her body language exposed her. Now I'm left with deciding if her reasoning was valid or a cover up.
"They expressed their interest in her and their son doesn't mind. So I agreed to let them try dating."
The reason seemed acceptable.
"I see. Agreed to try dating to being engaged. What an irony." I grinned at her. She gave the same constipated smile my father gave me a few moments ago.
Since everything was planned, there was nothing much I can do. For now.

Harley POV
"Zen, please do not force yourself to join us for dinner. I know you don't want to know who my fiancé is." I saw the reflection of Zen's discomfort look in the mirror I was now facing.
I wore a black and white, simple yet elegant dress as requested by my future fiancé. Wasn't he a bit too demanding? It is just dinner, let alone in my own house, and he expected me to wear what he chose. Though I have to admit, he chose a stunning dress, as if he already knew me.
"It's fine. I have to know who I'm against with as well. You're leaving me too fast."
"Zen, I'm not leaving you." I walked towards him and caressed his cheeks. He naturally slipped both arms behind me. "I'll always be here."
He smiled and leant in slowly. I took the hint and placed my lips where it should be. I was worried he might not be able to take the stress of me going out to some trial dates with Mr unknown.
A few knocks came through the door. I stopped the kisses and hugs to see my brother peeking in. Zen was still holding on to my waist. Clark crossed his arms and entered the room.
"You two. Break it up. It is time. They have arrived. You'll be shocked, my dear sister."
I looked at Zen before turning back to Clark. Zen looked like he was about to break down. I touched his cheeks one last time, "Let's go."
As I walked down, I heard light murmurings in the background. My father's laughter was ever so loud, echoing throughout the house.
The sound of my heels bounced through the entire house. I tried controlling my heavy steps but to no avail. It was one of the heaviest heels I had ever worn. Then again, I only wore heels once in a blue moon.
When I managed to reach the ground level, everyone was already looking at me.
And then I saw him. In a black suit. Holding his wine glass. Staring and smiling at me. His hair neatly combed, in a way I would want my guy to be.
Glenn.
Glenn Xander is my fiancé.
