Zen and I went to a nearby sandwich fast food restaurant to grab a bite. I wanted soupy noodles but he insisted that I take something light. I ate two times faster than I usually do. I was getting my appetite back after seeing Clark all healthy.
"Thanks. For accompanying and being there for me at the hospital."
His expression changed to slight anger. "You owe me one for ignoring me like that for the past few days. Do you know how worried I am for you?"
I gave him a cheeky smile. "I really don't. Will you care to explain it for me?" I put on a puppy face as if seeking for forgiveness
Zen made a thin lip line. "Mmm, Harley. You know I won't fall for that." The lip line curved upwards on both ends.
"Nice save." I acknowledged him with my coffee cup brought up and laughed as I drank up my remaining drink one shot down. I stood up from my seat. "Let's go back."
As I walked away, Zen slipped his arm around my waist and pulled me towards him. I jumped at the touch and stared wide eyes at him. "What the-"
His lips tasted like the remains of his bittersweet coffee on his cup. I smiled in between his kiss, admitting that I've lost to him. I closed my eyes and took in the full power of the sensual kiss.
Zen stopped and pushed me back slightly, trying to catch his breath. He connected my forehead with his. "A kiss was what you asked for when you gave me that smile, wasn't it?"
I hammered him hard on the chest area. "Zen, you bastard." I chuckled and walked away from him. However, I was actually beyond words to show how happy I was.
Clark was sent home on the same day we visited him. Our butler drove the common car and brought him home. Zen and I went out to catch a movie and we were now having dinner.
"How was the movie?" Zen asked.
"I loved it. Love the part where the girl found out that the guy was always in love with her."
I spotted Zen staring at me. "Like how I'm in love with you?"
I choked on my Japanese ramen soup. Zen laughed. "I'm sorry, Harley. Are you okay? Here, your drink."
I swallowed a mouthful of water while mentally blaming myself for mentioning that part of the movie. "Thanks, Zen," I said sarcastically and rolled my eyes.
"I have a serious question for you, though. Between me and Glenn, who do you like more?"
This might be the only question which I don't really have an answer to. I looked up at him while putting down my cutlery, trying to read his expression.
"Do you have to ask this now?" I lightly laughed it off, hoping he could just forget about this.
"It is the right timing to ask since we're on the topic on confession and surprises. Unless you don't want to, it is fine. I'll ask another time." I sensed his disappointment though he smiled. He went back to finish up his dinner.
I continued to keep quiet even though his facial expression disturbed me.
We finished dinner and Zen drove me back home. The ride was a torturous one as the disappointed look on Zen's face kept replaying in my mind for the remaining night. He was not himself after dinner, blanking out whenever I tried to speak to him.
When we arrived at my house, I held on to the helmet, refusing to move and waited for Zen to look at me. I needed to see if he's still bothered with the unanswered question. After a long while of fidgeting, he finally looked up.
"You're not planning to hug that to sleep, are you? Pass it to me, come on." He held out his hand.
I refused to move. Zen tried to grab it from me but he couldn't pull it off and gave me the what-the-hell gesture. I have to ask him. I'm too bothered and frustrated emotionally.
"You're still bothered by the unanswered question, aren't you?" I finally got the guts to ask. I looked into his eyes to search for the honest truth.
Zen leaned back on his bike. He looked down and shook his head. He held out his hand without looking up but I remained stoned in the same spot.
Why the hand? I don't understand. But he does look so dashing in that position with his black leather jacket and dark blue jeans.
I was feeling nervous and my hands were shaking. He looked up at me with a questionable look then pulled me hard into his arms. The helmet was stuck between us but he wrapped me gently and spoke to me beside my ear.
"I am bothered by it. But I don't want to pressure you for an answer. I love you, Harley. I want you but I will respect whichever decision you make in the end. So don't feel guilty or bad, okay?" He used his fingers and combed through my hair.
His shampoo fragrance was still lingering there. I was getting intoxicated by it as I closed my eyes and nodded my head while he still held me in place. I took a deep breath in and wrapped both my arms with the helmet behind him.
"I prefer you over him."
