I swallow harshly. "W-what?!" He smiles softly at me before pushing a piece of my dry hair behind my ear. "Riley..." I shake my head looking down. I'm thinking in my head and eventually I look up at him. "What changes Evan?"
He laughs some. I guess it was a dumb question but he just has a smile on his face. "I don't want anything to change Riley. I want to get to know you. I want to have more days like Friday with you. Even if you never feel the same I still want to be a part of your life."
I hug him feeling him hug me back. I've never had someone want to be a part of my life. "Evan I would be lying if I said I felt nothing but I agree we should stay friends for now." He pushes me back some holding on to my arms.
"Wow you don't know how relieved I am to have this off my chest." I laugh to myself and he watches me. "So since you've come all this way maybe..." He smiles interrupting me. "I'd love too." I pull completely away from him. "You don't even know what I was gonna ask."
He shrugs with that same old smile that I will never get tired of seeing. "Doesn't matter." I smile at my feet realizing what I'm wearing. "Oh what am I thinking, let me change." I turn and he grabs my wrist smiling.
I turn to look up at him. "Now why would you do that?" I look a little confused and he drops my wrists. "Because I'm not dressed to go out..." He looks me up and down with a smile. "I think you look great." I blush softly smiling down at my feet before pushing him lightly.
"Just go wait downstairs. It won't take me long." He smiles heading for the door. I step over to the closet looking over at him seeing him wink before closing the door. I smile to myself picking a blue T-shirt that's shorter in the front then the back, a pair of black jeans with a little twist belt, and some brown ankle boots.
Once I get dressed I pick my brown purse off the rack and my black glasses that are real I just don't like wearing them.
I part my hair the right way eventually heading downstairs. He's laughing with Ashe about something and I step up behind the couch leaning over it. "Ready?"
He stands staring for a minute. He eventually nods saying goodbye to my sister. She smiles. "Hey Evan do you mind if I have a moment with Riley?" He shakes his head saying that he would be in the car. I sit on the couch and she rubs a thumb over my cheek. "Have fun and listen that boy is crushing. If any of the guys I had been with made eyes at me the way he makes eyes at you maybe my relationships would have lasted."
I smile at her because I know she's right. "I know and I may take you up on some advice when I get back but he's a friend for now and that's how I'm going to treat him." She kisses my check. "You don't need advice because you'll do fine but I'm here. Now go. He's waiting." I smile hugging her before getting up heading outside.
He's leaned up against his car and I smile. I don't think he knows I notice the quick look over he gives me as I make my way to him. "Gossiping about me?" I roll my eyes. "Not everything is about you Evan." I walk to my side of the car placing my hands on the roof setting my chin on them.
"Okay Riley if you say so. Where to?" I smile softly pushing my glasses up on my face. For once it's my turn to admire. He claps his hands. "Earth to Riley." I shake my head. "Sorry. Um how about your place?" He shakes his head getting into the car and I get in too a little confused.
"How about I drive around and if you see a place you like I'll stop?" I frown lightly and he notices like I hoped he would. He turns my face to his and again he's closer than I would like him to be. He just stares into my eyes for a minute before speaking. "Hey it's not that I have a problem with taking you to my place it's just..."
He stops himself and I am still confused. Why did he have to be so confusing to me? Why couldn't he just speak his mind? "It's just usually when a guy brings a girl back to his house it's because he wants something." I look down feeling stupid right now.
How could I not have seen this coming? He sees the mixed emotion so he moves closer. "Do you want something from me Evan?" He shakes his head reaching for my hand. Not in a locking fingers relationship way but more like a comfort around the hand way.
"Riley you are beautiful to me I will admit but no. I don't want anything from you. I want to get to know you and there are plenty of great places to have a second date then at my house." My eyes glow softly as I stare up at him.
"Date?!" He nods softly looking over my face stopping at the dimple I have from him making me smile. He runs a finger over it. "You've never been on a real date before huh?" I shake my head embarrassed looking down. He lifts it with his hand and I can't help to smile.
The boy talked about me being beautiful but this boy was perfect in detail too. Every feature fit and his personality, though I would like to poke at more, seemed to be nothing but admirable. "Hey that's not your fault. Don't think I'm gonna start judging you now. Guys can be real jerks if you aren't careful. Keep this in mind though Riley. I was born in Cali but I wasn't raised in Cali. I was raised on a field in the middle of Florida were I learned that women aren't ours to use but there here for men to have emotions. Normally we are supposed to be these really tough people but when it comes to beautiful women like yourself we get the chance to break from that shell. We get to put our emotions into loving you instead of holding them inside and for that reason Riley girls like you become everything to us so I have no intention of breaking your heart. No normal guy should."
I stare breathlessly at him and I'm not confused anymore. I see that now he's showing me who he really is and that he should be expecting nothing less from me and that's exactly what I'll give him. He smiles at me admiring him and he just pulls completely away from me starting the car.
"Why don't you pick Evan?" He smiles. "I know just the place."
Ugh this sucked I know but I'm trying. 😨 I hope you like it at least.
