We are both soaked as we make it into the beach house. We still share a few laughs as Evan shuts the door. He takes his shoes off and I do the same. "Okay Riley, follow me. Maybe I can find something so you can get changed." I smile softly following him up the stairs to the second story of the house.

He hands me a towel and I get to wondering how he has this beach house if he's just moved here. I decide to ask but when I look up he's shirtless and rummaging through the closet for a shirt. I swallow wondering into the hallway. I examine one of the paintings on the wall reaching a hand out to touch it when I hear his voice.

"Are you okay?" I pull my hand back looking at the ground. I smile softly turning around to face him. "My mother used to paint. She was really good." He smiles softly at me putting a piece of my hair back in its place. I examine him seeing that he's completely dry. He extends his hand to the open door he just came out of. "Unfortunately my sister moved out sometime ago and took all her stuff but I managed to find a pair of leggings she left. You can have them. As far as shirts go, pick what you like." I nod softly as he steps past me.

I step softly into the room and notice the black leggings he was referring to. I take my phone out my pocket drying it and pushing the power button to see that it's fine. I set it on the bed and rummage through his closet full of shirts. I find a nice grey one that I like and I change into it. Thankfully my bra and underwear weren't to wet.

Once I'm dry I head back downstairs seeing Evan starting a fire. He stands turning to see me. "Well the powers out so the fire is all we have." I shake slightly and he throws a blanket around me. He softly cups my face and I look into his eyes hoping to find a meaning for what's happening. "Don't be afraid to say what's on your mind Riley. I haven't judge you yet and I won't start now. I'm an open book. Maybe you should just take a chance." I sigh softly knowing he's right.

I nod and he leads me to the couch in front of the fire and we sit. "So who do you live with?" I play with the edge of the blanket shaking again because the fire isn't big enough yet. "My sister." I say looking up at him softy and he just smiles. "Maybe you should call her because honestly we could be here awhile." I nod softly pulling my phone out to text her.

'Hey Ashe. So I made a friend today and he's pretty cool. He took me out to lunch and we walked the beach. Well it started raining and now we are stuck in his beach house until the rain stops but I'll be home asap.' I lock my phone he's staring into the fire. I kick him and he smiles widely at me.

"What?" I smile as he kicks me softly back. I think to myself softly and remember my earlier question. "You said your sister moved out but didn't you just move down here?" He smiles and the thunder cracks loudly above us causing me to jump. "Well I used to live down here but my parents got divorced and I moved to Florida with my dad. I just moved back out here to buy an apartment."

The thunder cracks again and I remember that day my parents died. Before I know it the tears roll down my face. This always happens when it storms. I wipe them away quickly but he had already seen them. "Riley..." I sigh looking over at the fire trying to stop from crying. "The thunder reminds me of that day. This always happens."

He pulls me into him and I lay my head on his shoulder. He wipes the tears one by one and I sigh still watching the fire. "Don't cry. I'm right here. I promise I won't drive until the storms over. I'll sit right here with you." I smile softly and my phone vibrates.

'Be careful Riley. You know you shouldn't be trusting people you don't know. I trust you. Call if you need anything.' I smile softly locking my phone. "You're sister seems really cool." I smile at him. "Reading over my shoulder?" He smiles at me examining every inch of my face it seems.

"Isn't that what friends do?" I smile turning my attention back to the fire. I can hear the rain on the roof and even though the fires bigger it's still so cold in here. "Well that means I get to read your messages to your girlfriend. Even the flirty texts. Not saying I want to, its just in the whole description of friends with a girl."

He looks over staring at me with this expression on his face that I couldn't describe but it kinda looks like happiness. "I don't have a girlfriend." I look up at him. I smile elbowing him. "You didn't have go get all serious, Evan. I was just joking."

He smiles at me and we just laugh and talk for hours it seems. I couldn't have asked for a better day. I never wanted that moment to end so I cherished every single second. When the daylight fades out I do too. I fall asleep soundly on his warm body not meaning to. As Evan would say, what are friends for.

So I just got so into this that I wrote two chapters in a day but I'm going to post a piece right after this of just a few pictures of what they look like so be sure to look out for that. Enjoy. 😘
